Almost ready to go!
The day after tomorrow we'll be on our way to Rome!
Our trip has a double function; we will take a small vacation during which we will carry out cardiologist tests on little Samuele.
I confess that we are also thinking of having him born in the capital, the quality of the hospitals there is much higher than that of Reggio Calabria and it wouldn't be a problem for us to spend a few weeks away.
But let's go back to our current "Capitoline holiday", we will be there on Wednesday evening and we will have a friend's house at our disposal, therefore all the necessary comforts; We have a visit on Thursday morning and I think we'll dedicate the rest of the day to rest and maybe do some shopping, we need to find a nice gift for the owner and the house and in the evening everyone goes out for dinner obviously on Samuelino 😉.
On Friday, however, we will take a trip to Tuscany and spend the day in Montaione... we couldn't resist, once in Rome with a couple of hours by car you are in Florence!
On Saturday morning we move to Piombino to visit other friends and to introduce Reny to another part of this fabulous region and one of the cities that I still love to call home today; Sunday we will go to Frascati for the wedding of a very dear friend of ours as well as our wedding witness; We will stop to sleep there and then on Monday we will calmly return to Calabria.
They will be fun days even if, I already know, that Thursday will be very busy and important; fortunately the problem that Samuelino has is nothing serious but, as I am, prevention is better than cure.
As you can see from the cover image I had the car cleaned before departure, here are a couple of photos of the interior, here in front...

The work done on my car was excellent, I went to a car wash run by some Indian guys; without exaggeration I think it is the best in Reggio.
While I was there waiting, I began to reflect a bit.
Here in my city all the best and most reliable workers are not Calabrian, to be honest sometimes they are not even Italian; of course, as in every situation there are exceptions, there are still some people from Reggio who know how to work and who can be entrusted with some important tasks.
These young Indian guys for the external wash of the car and the internal cleaning asked me 15 euros, and what I think is the "owner" also gave me the arbre magique!
In my opinion the price is really low, not so much for an "average market price" considering that in Reggio this is the cost of a good or bad wash, but what makes the difference is the quality of the work of these guys and their accuracy and punctuality; in the end, seeing that the owner didn't want to take a penny more, I decided to leave a big tip to the guy who took care of my car with him.
Other Cuban doctors have recently arrived in Calabria to lend a hand given the lack of personnel and above all given that, in most cases, there are few Italian doctors who would choose "Calabrian" destinations to come to work.
Mind you, here we have the sea and the mountains, the sun, we are cheerful and welcoming people, we eat and drink well and we have a big heart, these are all important things when choosing a place to live; it is also true that a serious professional does not have the necessary means to do his job well, especially in the health sector.
If Samuele is born in Rome we will be happy since both Reny and I are very attached to this city, it is obvious that we would like it even if he were born in Reggio.
In this case, the difference is not made by the medical staff since, in our city hospital, neonatology but in general also the other departments include many good professionals, some of whom are very well trained; at the moment, however, in Reggio Calabria the hospital is really very dirty, in the operating room it is probable that a doctor will be able to save your life by carrying out a very difficult operation and then complications will arise due to a simple infection.
These are things that really make us think, how can we live in similar situations in the third millennium?
In our hospital wards there is a lack of personnel, so many nurses are missing, how is this possible in a country where the unemployment rate is very high?
These situations together with many other reasons lead the excellences of our city and our region to flee like hell, how can you blame them?
Who is the madman who chooses to stay and fight on the front lines by giving up his career and his own fulfilment?
Don't get me wrong in the past there have been and still today there are heroes who make these difficult choices, however they are exceptions, a hero, a saint is very often the exception that proves the rule... and we must never forget that many before to be recognized as saints or heroes have been martyrs.
Let's say that this reflection could go on for a long time and I will probably take it up again in the future, but for now I'll stop here; I'm still using Reny's PC to write and I alternate it with my mobile phone but I'm having a lot of trouble being used to my workstation and my settings.
As soon as possible I have to get a laptop that suits my needs and me eh eh!

Quasi pronti alla partenza!
Dopodomani ci metteremo in viaggio, direzione Roma!
La nostra trasferta ha una doppia funzione; faremo una piccola vacanza durante la quale effettueremo degli esami cardiologi al il piccolo Samuele.
Ti confesso che stiamo anche pensando di farlo nascere nella Capitale, lì la qualità degli ospedali è molto più alta di quella di Reggio Calabria e per noi non sarebbe un problema passare qualche settimana fuori.
Torniamo però alla nostra "villeggiatura capitolina" attuale, saremo lì mercoledì sera e avremo a disposizione casa di un amico, quindi tutte le comodità del caso; giovedì mattina abbiamo la visita e credo che dedicheremo il resto della giornata al riposo e magari a un po' di shopping, dobbiamo trovare un bel regalo per il padrone e di casa e la sera tutti a cena fuori ovviamente offre Samuelino 😉.
Venerdì invece faremo una capatina in Toscana e passeremo la giornata a Montaione... non potevamo resistere, una volta a Roma con un paio di ore di macchina sei a Firenze!
Sabato in mattinata ci trasferiamo a Piombino per andare a trovare altri amici e per fare conoscere a Reny un'altra parte di questa favolosa regione e una delle città che ancora oggi amo chiamare casa; domenica andremo a Frascati per il matrimonio di una nostra carissima amica nonché nostra testimone di nozze; Ci fermeremo a dormire lì e poi lunedì con calma rientreremo in terra Calabra.
Saranno giorni divertenti anche se, già so, che giovedì sarà molto impegnativo e importante; fortunatamente il problema che ha Samuelino non è nulla di grave ma, per come sono fatto io, prevenire è meglio che curare.
Come puoi vedere dall'immagine di copertina ho fatto ripulire la macchina prima della partenza, eccoti un paio di foto degli interni, qui davanti...
Qui invece i sedili dietro con l'immancabile cuscino della Reggina... sempre nel cuore!
Il lavoro svolto sulla mia auto è stato egregio, mi sono rivolto ad un autolavaggio gestito da alcuni ragazzi indiani; senza esagerare credo sia il migliore di Reggio.
Mentre ero lì che aspettavo ho cominciato un po' a riflettere.
Qui nella mia città tutti i lavoratori migliori e quelli più affidabili non sono calabresi, ad essere sinceri a volte non sono nemmeno italiani; naturalmente come in ogni situazione ci sono delle eccezioni, esiste ancora qualche reggino che sa lavorare e al quale si può affidare qualche compito importante.
Questi giovani ragazzi indiani per il lavaggio esterno della macchina e la pulizia interna mi hanno chiesto 15 euro, e quello che penso sia il "titolare" mi ha anche regalato l'arbre magique!
Secondo me il prezzo è davvero basso, non tanto per un discorso di "prezzo medio di mercato" visto che a Reggio è questo il costo di un lavaggio bene o male, quello però che fa la differenza è la qualità del lavoro di questi ragazzi e la loro precisione e puntualità; alla fine visto che il proprietario non ha voluto prendersi un centesimo in più ho deciso di lasciare una lauta mancia al ragazzo che insieme a lui ha provveduto alla mia auto.
In Calabria recentemente sono arrivati altri medici Cubani per dare una mano vista la carenza di personale e visto soprattutto che, nella maggior parte dei casi, sono in pochi i medici italiani che sceglierebbero destinazioni "calabre" per venire a lavorare.
Intendiamoci, qui abbiamo il mare e la montagna, il sole, siamo gente allegra e accogliente, si mangia e si beve bene e abbiamo un grande cuore, sono tutte cose importanti quando si deve scegliere un posto in cui vivere; è anche vero che un professionista serio non ha i mezzi necessari per svolgere bene il suo lavoro, soprattutto nel campo della sanità.
Se Samuele nascerà a Roma ne saremo felici visto che sia Reny che io siamo molto legati a questa città, è ovvio che ci farebbe piacere anche se nascesse a Reggio.
La differenza non la fa in questo caso lo staff medico poiché, al nostro ospedale cittadino, la neonatologia ma in generale anche gli altri reparti annoverano tanti bravi professionisti alcuni dei quali molto preparati; al momento però a Reggio Calabria l'ospedale è davvero molto sporco, in sala operatoria è probabile che un medico riesca a salvarti la vita portando a termine un'operazione difficilissima e poi si creano delle complicazione per una banale infezione.
Sono cose che fanno davvero riflettere, come si può nel terzo millennio vivere delle situazioni simili?
Nei nostri reparti ospedalieri c'è carenza di personale, mancano tanti infermieri, come è possibile ciò in un paese in cui il tasso di disoccupazione è altissimo?
Queste situazioni insieme a tantissimi altri motivi portano le eccellenze della nostra città e della nostra regione a fuggire a gambe levate, come biasimarli?
Chi è il pazzo che sceglie di restare a combattere in prima linea rinunciando alla propria carriera e alla propria realizzazione?
Non fraintendermi in passato ci sono stati e ancora oggi ci sono eroi che prendono queste scelte difficili, sono però delle eccezioni, un eroe, un santo è molto spesso l'eccezione che conferma la regola... e non bisogna mai dimenticare che molti prima di essere riconosciuti come santi o eroi sono stati dei martiri.
Diciamo che questa riflessione potrebbe dilungarsi parecchio e probabilmente in futuro la riprenderò, per ora mi fermo qui però; sto ancora utilizzando il PC di Reny per scrivere e lo alterno con il mio cellulare ma faccio molta fatica essendo abituato alla mia postazione e ad i miei settaggi.
Appena possibile mi devo munire di un portatile adatto alle mie esigenze e a me eh eh!
