Un po' di (A little bit of) Lampedusa Italian 🇮🇹 and English 🇬🇧 version

Fenici, Greci, Romani e Berberi usarono tutti l'isola come base marittima strategica.

English version

Greetings to all the friends of HIVE and a good August 15th to everyone.

I don't usually celebrate this day but it is certainly a significant day because it often coincides with the realization that the holidays are almost at the end even if for many they start later but, in the vast majority, it is so.

This year we have not yet taken a holiday but, scrolling through the phone, I found some photos from a few years ago of a holiday in Lampedusa. The island of Lampedusa in Sicily, simply a paradise, is an island in the Sicilian archipelago known as the Pelagie Islands (or Pelagie). Islands of the Mediterranean Sea which, together with the island of Pantelleria although they belong to Italy, are actually closer to Tunisia. Lampedusa's “Spiaggia dei Conigli” has been repeatedly recognized as the most beautiful beach in the world.

Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Berbers all used the island as a strategic maritime base. During the Arab-Byzantine wars in the 9th century, the island was sacked. Much later, during the medieval period, it was the subject of Ottoman raids and, as a result, was completely abandoned. Now only about 6,000 people live on the island and they survive thanks to agriculture and tourism. The whole island is only 20 km long and can be covered by bike in just one day.
We rented a scooter and there we turned it quickly and having a lot of fun.
Its rocky and dry terrain is completely different from what one would expect to see in the Mediterranean. The main attraction is clearly the white sand beaches and turquoise waters which have been named the most beautiful in the world several times. Some of the most famous are Cala Pulcino, Cala Creta, Cala Guitgia (perfect for families), Cala Calandra (Dead Sea) and the most famous of all, Spiaggia dei Conigli (Spiaggia dei Conigli).

What a very beautiful place! It looks so calm and peaceful, that you can be one with nature. The colors are just amazing.

Lampedusa, in addition to being a beautiful island that gives peace and serenity, is also the crossroads of many migrants who seek refuge in Europe from Africa. One thing that breaks my heart is that he is very warned on the island. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts.
