I have always loved photography, but have not really delved into the nitty gritty of the creative aspect until recently when I purchased a GH4 camera.
Having to learn about photography, I have ironically now discovered that I can even create some very beautiful shots with my smartphone camera!

All I just needed was to understand the dynamics of how these camera lenses and their software work.
Since I got a hang of this, I began to take advantage of capturing moments when the opportunity presents itself. And the results have been Photo-worthy most of the time.

Getting a location to explore the possibilities of smartphone photography can be quite dicey where I live (Nigeria). I sometimes might not be able to take photos in certain places due to restrictions and the general paranoia the citizens associate with taking unwarranted photos. Also, there is the risk of theft especially when attempting street photography. Some thefts are "run-snatch-and run". Before you recover from what happened, the thief has disappeared!

However there are still safe spaces to take pictures and explore. The important thing is just to be wary.
There are actually beautiful locations in Nigeria to find beautiful shots if you have the opportunity to move around.

I took these pictures here during a visit to a Nature Park in Ibadan, Nigeria. I went with my friends Moyin (the model) and @omoajok (who helped with suggestions of what shots to take).
I never thought we were going to have an impromptu shoot, so I did not take any camera gear along. All I had was my smartphone in my pocket.
And you know, there's a saying that says "the best camera is the one in your pocket".

So we decided to take advantage of the garden environment of the location and frame some portrait shots. I didn't really think I would get so much in quality with a smartphone camera especially considering that these cameras have quite some software overprocessing that makes pictures look less realistic.
But then we went ahead and found some flowers and shrubs which seemed to give a lot of perspective to our beautiful model, Moyin. So we took that advantage for framing our background generally.
It was difficult getting any other ideas with other location spots because many people were around. So other potential good spots were more or less occupied.

We tried various poses and also made sure we maximized the sunlight available to us at that time to light the subject sufficiently. The pictures were taken close to the evening time so the sun was at one of its perfect perspectives to get usable lighting.

And voila! We came up with these amazing shots!

I don't know if I should call the shots stellar or just good enough.
Be the judge... What do you think?
How will you rate my snapshots?
Do you really think smartphone photography can compete well with
