Planning error - making the most out of it!

Sometimes your plan fails and you have to make the most of it! Well today something like that happened with my trainingsplan.
I was supposed to run 10x 400m (@3:55 - 4:00 / km) packed within a warming up and a cooldown to do a targetted VO2max training.
I made the error to create that workout as 10x 40m in garmin.

I noticed this as I completed my first interval. In order to still make something out of the training I had to improvise a little. 10k speed became spints (still too short… but whatever) and minimizing the rest between intervals.

After completing this mini sprint session, I adjusted my intended cooldown to a couple of longer intervals. Here my workout display on the watch was not helpfull, I could not see the distance nor my speed - so forget science and just do some speed work on gut feelings!

While not as productive as intended, I did get some conditioning benefits from this run

The weather today was again very nice, a little mist provided some nice views while running near the farmers land.

Furthermore I found a little park nearby that I was unaware of I had fun exploring some new routes!

So despite, not being the most beneficial training for my marathon goal - the training did provide some benefits and more importantly it was good fun!

For my 3x 5km (@4:15 / km) workout later this week I will double check the workout before hitting the road!

Happy running!

That is a cool little park you found. It's interesting how we can live in an area for a long time and still find new things around us that we haven't noticed before. Great weather too!

Sometimes it's so fun to discover new routes and explore them. I'm glad the weather was nice and you have those beautiful views. Thanks for sharing your training.🦵🏻

Sorry to hear about the programming mishap, it happens! But you improvised and made the best out of it, and that's what counts! That's an impressive training session even with much of it being created on the "fly".

That scenery is amazing, just so much greenery and beautiful roads and trails. You're lucky to live in such a pretty place!
