Punta del Este

One of the destinations we had planned to go on our short visit to Uruguay was Punta del Este. Perhaps more moved by the classic tourist postcards of all the times we hear her name it in the media than by personal references that we would have had, at least before arriving in Montevideo.

So we already had an idea, knowing that it was a more expensive place than usual, due to its international tourist fame in a country that in general also seemed expensive to us, comparing the prices with other Latin American countries that we have been able to visit.

Honestly, it is not the type of destination that we usually visit, but in this case we found it interesting because it is a well-known destination and it is also relatively close to the capital, only two hours away, and it was the perfect opportunity to directly appreciate the ocean. Atlantic south of the continent.

We arrived in Punta del Este, without reservation and honestly without much planning of what we were going to see, so at first I felt a bit disoriented in its geography.

From the outset, its ostentatious tourist infrastructure reminded me of Porlamar on Margarita Island, but as on our last visit to that Caribbean island, and for our luck and economy, we managed to find a luxurious apartment with a view of the sea, at a really ridiculous price for the days we were there, this in large part because we were "out of season" and the good vibes of the hotel owner who for the price of a room offered us a complete apartment in the building opposite, since that there were hardly any tourists in the area.

In fact, we find a demographically little traveled city. that was a real surprise.

We knew how to find an exceptional beauty in those many of its landscapes and lonely streets, imagining how different that place must be in summer when thousands of people from Argentina and Brazil come to spend the summer on its beaches.
