Una de las obligaciones que nos toca como padres es ayudar con las labores escolares (tareas) a nuestros hijos, se hace fácil cuando son temas que el padre (Yo) tiene conocimiento, pero qué pasa cuando no es así. Tengo conocimiento de matemáticas, literatura, historia, ciencias y sociales, sin embargo el arte no es de mis mayores fortalezas.
One of the obligations that we have as parents is to help with the school work (tasks) for our children, it is made easy when they are issues that the father (me) has knowledge of, but what happens when it is not. I have knowledge of mathematics, literature, history, science, and social, however, art is not my greatest strength.
Una mañana cualquiera al despertarme, mi hija me dice, –Papá, tengo que hacer la tarea de arte, ayúdame, después de unos segundos, respondo, –claro mi amor yo te ayudo, ¿cuándo la hacemos? Sin preguntar de qué trataba la tarea para prepararme, pero, ¿qué tan difícil puede ser una tarea de cuarto grado, de una niña de 10 años? Pensé. –Después de leer unos capítulos del libro El Principito, me explica que era otra asignación a ser evaluada en su colegio –Perfecto mi amor, solo espero que me avises cuando culmines, le manifesté y terminamos la conversación.

Ella se pone a leer e iba transcurriendo el día, pero no fue sino hasta después de las 3 de la tarde que me indica que teníamos que hacer la tarea y nos dispusimos a leer la actividad, había que investigar sobre la biografía del gran artista venezolano, el maestro Jesús Soto, y en el párrafo siguiente decía reproducir una obra que te guste de él. Por supuesto, mis ojos aunque se mantenían en el texto, estaba pensando cómo hacer algo tan complejo.

La biografía era sencilla, por ser un artista importante hay muchísima información sobre su vida y trayectoria, pero replicar una obra, son palabras mayores, es Soto, sin embargo como para mis hijos soy un súper héroe no perdí la compostura, mantuve la calma y comenzamos la investigación de la biografía, y mientras mi hija terminaba de escribirla yo recordaba las obras magníficas que he visto del maestro y todo me parece muy complejo, pero entre las que más me gustan se encuentran La Esfera Caracas que se encuentra expuesta en la autopista.
The biography was simple, as he is an important artist, there is a lot of information about his life and career, but replicating a work, these are bigger words, it is Soto, however, since for my children I am a superhero, I did not lose my composure, I kept calm and We began the investigation of the biography, and while my daughter finished writing it I remembered the magnificent works that I have seen of the master and everything seem very complex to me, but among the ones that I like the most are La Esfera Caracas, which is exposed on the highway.
Hacía tiempo, esa obra había captado mi atención, le había tomado unas fotos desde mi carro. Ahora bien, verla es una cosa, pero reproducirla, esas son palabras mayores y más para alguien que pinta personas con círculos y palitos, la tarea era pasar de esos muñecos a la Esfera.
A long time ago, that work had captured my attention, I had taken some photos from my car. Now, seeing it is one thing, but reproducing it is bigger and more words for someone who paints people with circles and sticks, the task was to go from those dolls to the Sphere.
Por la rapidez, solo se me ocurrió abrir PowerPoint y comenzar a insertar círculos y rayas, colocando uno sobre otro, subiendo y bajando, cambiando de color las formas geométricas que coloqué en la lámina, al terminar quedó una obra en dos dimensiones, muy básica y paré de repente.
Because of the speed, it only occurred to me to open PowerPoint and start inserting circles and stripes, placing one on top of the other, going up and down, changing the color of the geometric shapes that I placed on the sheet, at the end a two-dimensional work remained, very basic and I stopped suddenly.
Me dediqué a pensar cómo se le da un poco de perspectiva a la esfera, no necesariamente perfecta, pero algo mejor y que fuera presentable y fácil, que pudiera explicarle a mi hija para que ella la hiciera. ¿Por qué no le dijo a su mamá?
I started thinking about how to give the sphere a little perspective, not necessarily perfect, but something better and it was presentable and easy that I could explain to my daughter so that she could do it. Why didn't you tell your mom?
Sin embargo, seguí pensando y viendo una foto de la esfera, comencé a ver la base y se me ocurrió tomar el rombo y darle algo de perspectiva. Seguí los pasos siguientes:

Paso a paso, fui añadiendo algunas formas para tratar de darle sentido a la obra, luego de mucho tiempo ya de noche así quedó, les presento mi obra inspirada en la Esfera Caracas.
Step by step, I was adding some ways to try to make sense of the work, after a long time it was like that at night, I present my work inspired by the Sphere of Soto.
Salí corriendo a mostrarle a mi hija y tratar de explicarle como quedó para que ella hiciera una réplica como la mía, al mostrarle mi grandiosa obra, con la cara más tierna, me dice –papá ya hice otra obra de Jesús Soto, ¿te gusta?, yo con cara de asombro le dije –mi reina está espectacular.
I ran out to show my daughter and try to explain how I did it so that she would make a replica like mine, by showing her my great work, with the most tender face, she tells me -papa I already did another work by Jesús Soto Do you like it? I, with an astonished face, said to her, "My queen is spectacular."

Gracias ni corazón, jajajaj aunque no lo creas en primer momento iba a salir con una pataleta de papá, pero su cara tierna me conmovió.
