To me, there are no hard and fast rules that dictate a good sepia shot. I personally like to find shots that are ambiguous as to when it was taken. So I try to forgo subjects with modern gadgets. However, art is in the eye of the artist.

My paint palette that I choose from usually has grain, vignetting, levels, and soften. I am using Darktable to do the edits. I think it is fun to take a decent picture and just beat the devil out of it lol. Just fooling around to make it something new look old and therefore, completely new again!
