Metal Detecting Adventures: Found my first Buffalo!

in GEMS3 years ago

Hey Hive people,

It has been some time since posting, but I've been logging on most days. It's great to see Hive doing so well!

I have been continuing to find silver metal detecting, however, I always get excited about my first old-type of coin. I found my first Buffalo Nickel in a public park!!

1936 Philadelphia mint, not a rare date, just glad to find one!

Nickels are tricky because they read on a detector the same as aluminum. Often, people avoid these signals because they don't want to dig trash. Gold also rings up in this range, so it's worth digging through some underground trash for the pay-dirt!

I hope to get back on open mic soon as well!

Stay thirsty for treasure.

Cheers!

That Buffalo Nickle is in pretty good shape! A bit discolored but most of the features of the Indian are clear and the date and Liberty stand out well. Nice to see what treasure you uncovered and nice to see you here! :)

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Good to hear from you! Yeah, you can get the coating off the coin but it can scratch it. I might just leave it how it is.
