Crime rate is increasing- My pal's gadgets just got stolen and it is a setback for our work.

The rate of crime in this side of the world seems to have increased. Some days ago, @Josediccus made a post about how his properties were stolen. I felt bad about it. I commented to share how I felt. I never knew something similar is going to happen to someone pretty close to me.

I have been working on a couple of projects, Typeearn, Sky euphoria, Gitplait, and Websolve. Some are live while some are still in the process. I am the front-end dev and I have a very close pal that has been doing most of the server side work. Sometimes he will be the one to work on both front and back. All I have to do is to share ideas with him.

Before the outbreak of a Covid19, I went to one of my sisters’ office and I got an idea on how her business could expand. She does money exchange and local cash withdrawer and deposit. I noticed how the place was filled with crowd. I asked her, "what about we build a system whereby people only need to spend 30 secs in your office for transactions"; She said, "she would be glad".

I shared an idea with her and how this could be done. She was happy. When I got to the house, I gave it a deep thought, and I realized that this idea could cause a change to the money exchange and local cash business in Nigeria. I reached out to my right-hand man, and he was wowed with the idea. I built the front-end, and he has been on the server side to ensure the security is high. It is not a blockchain-related app.

When the covid19 started, I noticed it is the right time to release this app because of the social distancing rules, with lots of tasks at hand, I kept on working on the app with him, and we have been on a circle for over 2 weeks. We are trying to get a issue fixed, but it seems to be a "bone in the ass".Sorry for the language. We had to consult a more advanced dev, and he helped in fixing the bony part of the code a day before yesterday.

We were so happy. I bid him good night via chat. The second day, I tried his line early in the morning, it was off. After like 30 minutes, he called me with his alternate line and said his computers, phones and some valuables were stolen in the night. The worst thing is, he was in his flat with his mama and siblings. They did not wake up while people are moving things in their house. Many people may not understand this part of the story, but a true African man would understand.

So, we have been on it. We have spent a lot on this app, and we can’t afford to slow things down.
We are trying to track his iPhone. The tracker guys charge us $150. We will be going there today. But I just hope we get the computers back. Some codes are not yet uploaded, and this is like a serious setback on this work. I have two spear laptop to give him, but they are not close to the quality of his machines.

I just pray we laugh at last on this. I will share whatever end our search.

Thank you!

Fuck bro. I'm sorry about it. The situation is dire these days and I worry for us all. I hope you're able to track the phone and get the person.

Thank you. I just hope the guys are still in Abuja, because if they are out, the police would charge huge money to go after them. The properties worth millions. You know how our police used to do.

Fuck them

God help Naija!

God has signed out.

That is scary!

Scary but looks like the truth. I feel bad that when things go wrong, we still call on God. Things that could have been fixed if people really liked God.
Sucks what happened to your friend and I hope it is resolved but I Sha know that God has signed out of Nigeria matter

Thing is, I was pretty devastated when it happened to me, up till know I don't even know how I'll finish school, scammers are plentier than legitimate business people in Nigeria and it's definitely alarming. It's a crazy situation really.im sad your friend went through this

Thank you. I am even sad because of the delay this would cause for our work, and I pray the guys will still be in Abuja. Else, it will cost a lot to get the phones and computers back.

The police is another problem we have in this country they'll stress you guys to trace the thieves, like you said, let's hope you catch them

Yes, we can only hope and pray. I have seen similar stuff at the Garki Police command. They charged the guys 250k to go after the thieves. Imagine Naija.
