This is a picture of a diorama that I took in Maysville, Kentucky at the dollhouse museum. For sepia Saturday I like to try to manipulate a current photo and degrade it in such a way that it looks vintage. As a general rule people tend to desaturate the photo where it becomes a monochrome. Then I like to add varying degrees of noise via grain and gaussian blur. Then of course I finish by adding sepia tones to the image.
This post is going in one of the most enjoyable photographic communities that I am aware of; that being the Colour / Black and White Community run by @daveks. I might even sneak in a sepia or three as it is Sepia Saturday after all!
This is an old crank phone from the turn of the century. I guess we've come a long way from those days with our modern phones.
Kind of makes me wonder what the phones will look like in another hundred years from now…
The cool thing about this photo is that the subject is vintage already. In fact the building has been around so long that, if you look closely, it has been painted more than once. Somewhere along the way, it was painted with the ubiquitous Coca-Cola logo.
Starting way back in the day when I was just a young boy with an enlarger and a dark room, I always enjoyed playing with contrast and colors in photography. To this day I can still smell all of those chemicals and it sparks a nostalgic feeling of fun times.
