Dead Internet Theory: Votes of The Dead

in Proof of Brain3 years ago (edited)

Have you ever thought that the Internet has become different, in a bad way? Most of the content on the web seems to have no soul. Memes repeat each other. Any social platform and the topics in it copy each other. The behavior patterns of many users are predictable. And even trolls troll without a spark.

Is this a consequence of the fact that the Internet has become too public, and the era when communication in this environment was conducted mostly by enthusiasts has gone? Monetization of social interactions, on the basis of huge platforms, took away people's own thoughts and directed them to the path of making a profit according to a template. Or is something else the cause: reptiloids, freemasons, government conspiracies or your ex?

If now you thought, "yes, perhaps that lady from the traffic service looked suspicious..." then welcome to another conspiracy theory. The Internet died in 2016.

I'll not be engaged in copy-pasting and editing an already existing theory, which you can read here: Maybe You Missed It, but the Internet ‘Died’ Five Years Ago and here: Dead Internet Theory: Most of the Internet is Fake

Let's deduce only the main theses:

  • All the content is repeated, because neural networks have been trained on existing templates, and they cannot generate something new and unique.

  • CGI and DeepFake are so developed that almost all living people (celebrities) on the Internet in photos or videos are the work of algorithms.

  • Almost all the communication that you see on the network is communication between bots. Real users do not communicate with each other, they only read.

  • There are only a few thousand live users left in the entire network who create human content.

  • After the strike of screenwriters in the United States, the government developed an AI alternative. And all the famous works (music, movies, books etc.) of recent years have been created by AI

  • Anime is the only real art that has preserved its soul...

The basis of the theory, in addition to guesses, is this report: Bot Traffic Report 2016

Definitely, I'll not agree with the degree of drama, in the sense that there are much more live users than a few thousand. You also thought about this, just remembering that your colleagues at work use the Internet, your mother, your friends and friends of their friends, and their dogs, and friends of these dogs.

On the other hand, how active are they as users and what impact do they have on the network? Probably none at all. They are only consumers of content, not its creators. Personal messages about how many pounds of weight have been added on your sides, and photos with a rash in strange places-do not count. Ok, ok, let's take into account that beautiful 3D model of your neighbor's golden retriever poop…

Anyway, the most interesting thing here is the obvious fact that technologies based on neural networks can create anything. Photos, text, art objects are not a problem for them, for the last few years. What is only deepfake worth, which is capable of causing a lot of trouble…

Oh, yes, after the fact, you will be able to weed out lies from the truth, but the primary reaction is important. Create a fake with Kim Jong-un, who presses the nuclear button… well, you understand.

This is all very cool and interesting, and definitely has an impact on the masses. But I'm concerned about the question in the context of my little swamp in which I'm. When publishing on Hive, write about Hive, and you will be famous, one wise man told me, aha.

Hypothesis - is there any content created by neural networks on Hive? If not, what prevents from publishing such content here? There are a number of open services based on neural networks in which you can create a drawing, a photo, or even a short text. In extreme cases, having average technical skills, you can spend a certain amount of time and train your neural network on the basis of the top posts of Hive and Steemit (not such large volumes).

So, are there any non-living authors among us who receive good rewards? Why not... especially if we take into account the fact that voting for many posts already has a bot-voting, in automatic mode, without opening the post. Everything that brings money and can be automated will be automated.

The situation here definitely looks better than on Steemit, where, it seems to me, automation and certain schemes have reached their peak. The other day I decided to see what they have in the top, peeping through the keyhole. I don't seek to publish there, after I found Hive. It would look a little hypocritical. You know, like you left their party because someone peed in their punch. You told about it at another party, and vowed never to drink punch with urine. But then you go back there and still drink it, smiling happily and saying that this is the most delicious punch in the world. Something like that…

What am I talking about, oh yes- I saw this guy in the top. You can throw a rock at me, referring to the fact that this young artist may be only 5 years old, and Steemit is such a wonderful place that will support any child in the rush to express their creativity… I’m ready to put myself only under these rocks.

Objectively, we have an example of auto-content, with auto-voting, by mutual agreement or how it works there. I don't know, I'm not going to taste that punch. His drawings a year ago were much better than they are now. But now, every post out of 4 gets a great reward, so why bother with quality.

Сan this happen here? So rude-hardly. Still living users here will be able to adequately determine the quality of such content. But add a little bit of neural networks, a little more autobots with voting, pulling up the short content model that @steevc mentioned the other day. Voila, we are also part of the dead Internet… Brave New World.

Sort:

Bots are certainly part of Hive and the internet in general, but there are plenty of humans too creating cool music, art and other content. We get to choose who we interact with and support, so make you choice.

!PIZZA (to set off another bot)

You're right. But the highlight of this conspiracy theory is that at the moment, you will no longer be able to determine who is a bot and who is not :)

What a stupid waste of time. Yes, in case we ALL live in a simulation (like Elon Musk believs), you as well are a bot too, you just believe you are a living being.

I'm not stupid enough to trust Elon Musk... Camon! he's a reptilian!
I believe that all of us, and the whole world around us, is a dream of the supreme being, and we are just a projection of his consciousness. But I am a special projection, because I realized that I am part of a dream and can control events. Like that dude from The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind...

That is an old, but nice idea. But then your control of events is an illusion too and part of the dream.

And this is already similar to the Matrix 4 scenario!

After two references to pop culture on my part, do you have any suspicion that I am a bot that advertises brand-universes? :)

Who am I to judge, maybe I am just a bot too :)

Maybe we will get there. I have seen some computer generated images that look pretty real and might get support somewhere like Instagram, but I think I can tell who is human on Hive for now. The technology only gets better.

A month ago, I came across a voice bot at an oil company... I realized that it was a robot only at the 10th minute of the conversation. I felt like a bit of a fool.

As for Hive, well, so far, most of the users here look real :)

I get some phone calls that are automated. They seem to use a real voice, but it's dumb depending on how you answer. As I said, it will get better.

Oh, yes, these are mass solutions for the poor. Obviously, these guys with oil have not spared money, and their bot does not have all these flaws such as repeated phrases, delays in parsing your speech. The bastard even changed his intonation depending on my.

Do you know how I realized that this is a bot?
At the end of the dialogue, he told me this himself, and he asked me to evaluate it... :)

Almost all the communication that you see on the network is communication between bots. Real users do not communicate with each other, they only read.

for the voting I believe it is sometimes automation, a larger stake might use it to support several users, while some smaller might use manual voting.
But for commenting and communicating I believe it is being done by users, and that is why not many post is getting good comment and communication

The key question is what you will like more: automatic votes with a good payout without comments. Or the lack of voices, but constructive dialogues in the comments?

the next question is, which will grow your account faster and better?
I believe both are good and bad at the same times. Constructive dialogue without much payout will only make one envy to those voted with automatic votes with better payout

We shall avoid it!! Thankfully lessons have been learned from the previous shitheap!

I like the conspiracy that the internet died in 2016. There are some gems in it!

Your emotional comment makes me think that you are a Scottish bot...

I am, and always have been from the bottom of my heart!!! :0)

!PIZZA

Woohha, this is a very beautiful answer !!! I will add it to the "fund of golden replies". You are a worthy successor to Walter Scott.

If only you knew how close I was to him!! ;0)
