SUP Sunday

Have you ever tried SUP?
Don't know what it is?

Here is how they describe the benefits of SUP on one site, which came on top of my Google checkup

Stand up paddling is a full-body exercise and has become a popular cross-training workout. While the leg muscles do most of the hard work, as they are the ones supporting all the weight, virtually every muscle in your body will be engaged at some point. The arms, back, and shoulders are used when paddling. The core, back, and abdominal muscles keep your balance.

With this summer being crazy, unusually hot for us (several weeks now, day after day 31-34C, while normally only 2-3 days should get above 30C in a whole year here), yesterday our family decided to visit area of many lakes near Trakai, west from Vilnius. SUP seem to be a perfect addition to the usual plain swimming.

Those (one of the best) RED PADDLE boards were no problem to rent there for less than €7 an hour. Super stable. Super fun to use, even for one who steps on such a board the first time in his life.

Water in Galve lake was cool, very refreshing, perhaps around ~21C. Crisp and clear. Lots of yachts, surfers, paddlers, tour boats around.
Yet we still managed to find some privacy, and enjoy watching wild life, and taking a sun bath.

This was not our first SUP Sunday, and certainly not the last. Summer is not long here, and we must squeeze every bit out of it.

My daughters were streaming Live from the middle of the lake, making many of their friends jealous. Finally, not even a sign of that damn COVID any place around.

Next Sunday is only 6 days away. Maybe a better alternative to Khal's SOONday.

Tried it for the first time last week. Navigating the river that passes through my home city was bizarre, it felt like I was out in the countryside somewhere.

You can pick up high quality inflatable boards for ~$200. Worth it if you've got a body of water and a launch point near you.

I don't know how good can be one for $200. Even small type for kids cost more, IMHO.
Those RED PADDLE CO 10'8", which we had yesterday, sells (new) for little over €1K here.
The guy who rent them, said he could not find anything more reliable, trusty and cost-effective for his rent business.

The rental company I used had Aqua Marina Fusions that retail for £429

My girlfriend has the Amazon special Kicode board ($230) and can't fault it. I've had a go on it and the only difference from the Fusion is the colour. Saying that, the page doesn't scream quality product to me, they probably wouldn't last a week as rentals.

Especially if the average 7'1" male is using them. I'm losing my shit here. 😂

A great idea to spend a day a little sheltered from the sultry heat that this year is recording record peaks almost everywhere!

But it's nice to see such a close family, I hope it was a really great day of relaxation and fun!

A hug :)

Thanks.
What was a bit unusual (maybe) this time, that this was a six person party, and ALL SIX are holders of Hive (old st€€m) accounts: @ingapete @ligit @rolasoulja @linaklm @iveta @onealfa
The sad thing - I'm the only one still active (and regularly) on Hive today, from all these six.
Doe's this means I'm the most patient? Most thick-skinned ?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I believe that this means that you believe much more than others in the potential of Hive and the blockchain.

It would be nice if your friends are back active too and I hope they really can be in the future

Posted via proofofbrain.io

In fact those 6 were not friends, these are my family members

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I haven't tried this before. Looks like a great way to strengthen the muscles and keep fit.
Oh, it's been a long time I visited a lake, sea or beach. I hope to do that before the year runs out.

Did this a couple of times. It’s hot in holland and you see each week more people doing this.

It'sway too hot right now. I'd love to be on a lake.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Supping is cool! You can buy inflatable ones at the Decathlon.

But be careful on the water with those temperatures. People tend to forget that it's so hot because you always have a breeze on the water.

Am certain it LL be a cool experience but m not good at swimming In case my leg slips into the water . That would be a disaster lol

Posted via proofofbrain.io

To slip off into H2O at +32C was nothing but fun. Pure fun.

Nice one... I didn't know what SUP was all about but it's not a surprise because we don't have clean water around us. What is here are mostly streams. The type that's too unhealthy to be around humans.

Right from when I saw the picture you attached, I just imagined that this can only be done by an expert but your explanation screams otherwise.

Nice one. That was a very fun weekend

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Yes, indeed, it was.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I'm glad covid is out of the way now at least for some people to go out and have fun. I'd be totally scared trying out that SUP. I'm not much of a water fan but maybe if it seems easier than it looks then I could give it a try.

It is good to see some outdoor summer activity! Nice post.

Have you ever tried SUP?
Don't know what it is?

Yes! Here in Brazil (where there are usually beaches), SUP is a very common "sport".

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I also often do SUP, which is my favorite activity. But it is not easy to keep balance. I admire the fat people in the photo.

For how long have you paddled on that thing?

Normally about 3-4 hours. Yesterday a bit shorter, ~3h

This is something new and exciting to hear, seems very interesting and wonderful body exercise. How's your body feeling after the workout? Good to see you guys having outdoor adventure, its been a while since covid to have such experiences😊🙏

Posted via proofofbrain.io

This was a very relaxed style action, so no signs of fatigue , or anything today.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Cool, a combination of surfing and rafting, looks fun to me. Hmmm super stable, but I wonder if it is easy to balance on those boards 🤔, may be those blue threads are there to support the feet. And what if there are some waves?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I tried it but I am not a "handle a thing above water expert" - however I get why you like it - I miss your lovely daughters though here on the chain - bring them back to frequent postings please :-).

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Very interesting to see you're having fun although i've not tried SUP, i guess i get a bit phobia around big water bodies.

I spy someone in blue shorts :)

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I've long thought this looks like a good way to be on the water. Haven't tried it, though; we live on the coast and the sea is usually with too many waves and wind to make it easy to stand up when you're a beginner... maybe we just need to go find a lake, instead.

Looks very refreshing; could have use something like that when we recently had a week of 35+C here, which is very unusual!

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Yes, lakes and slow rivers are fine for SUP, but could be not so easy in a sea, on a windy day especially

Wow, I always wanted to try this "standup paddling" it seems something so nice and relatively easy, safe, at least in rivers and lakes, hehe. One day I'll buy one of these when I make my fortune in cryptos. Here in Brazil, unfortunately, this type of equipment is quite expensive, but it also seems to be quite durable and resistant.

I tried SUP a few summers ago. It wasn’t as easy as I thought. I think I prefer the kayak.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Looks nice...I’m not sure I like open lakes like that, I’ll be too scared of being eaten by sharks or Jelly fish or something. If I was there I will probably be helping you take pictures from the shore lol
