Today I share with you a passage of sacred scriptures from the book of the Acts of the Apostles, where it narrates a crucial event in the life of a jailer in the city of Philippi. After an earthquake shakes the prison where Paul and Silas are held, the jailer meets them and is deeply moved by what he has witnessed.
The passage says like this:
He then, asking for light, rushed inside, and trembling, prostrated himself at the feet of Paul and Silas; and bringing them out, he said to them, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They said: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your house. And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he, taking them at that same hour of the night, washed their wounds; and immediately he was baptized with all his people. And taking them to his house, he set the table for them; and he rejoiced with all his house that he had believed God.
Acts 16:29-34

The expression "asking for light" suggests that the jailer is seeking spiritual understanding or enlightenment in the midst of the confusion and fear that the earthquake has caused. His action of rushing into the prison and prostrating himself at the feet of Paul and Silas shows an attitude of humility and desperation to find answers.
By asking, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" the jailer reveals his need for redemption and his desire to find the path to salvation. Paul and Silas' response, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you and your household will be saved," emphasizes the importance of faith in Jesus Christ as the means to salvation, both for the jailer and his family.
After this initial conversation, Paul and Silas continue to share the word of God with the jailer and his family. This encounter leads to a symbolic act of purification and spiritual commitment when the jailer, along with his followers, are baptized. Paul and Silas's washing of the jailer's wounds can be interpreted as a gesture of love and care toward those who are in physical and spiritual need.
Finally, the passage concludes with the jailer showing his gratitude and joy at welcoming Paul and Silas into his home, where they share a meal together and celebrate their newfound faith in God. This story illustrates the transformative power of the gospel and how faith in Christ can radically change people's lives, leading them from darkness to light and from despair to hope.

Hoy les comparto un pasaje de las sagradas escrituras del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles, donde narra un evento crucial en la vida de un carcelero en la ciudad de Filipos. Después de que un terremoto sacude la cárcel donde Pablo y Silas están detenidos, el carcelero se encuentra con ellos y se siente profundamente conmovido por lo que ha presenciado.
El pasaje dice así :

It's amazing what Life is capable of doing... By the way... God is the meaning of Life... Keep that in mind, the next time you start reading the Bible... We're living in Everlasting Time, which I like to call the Present... Without the Present, we would have no Life in us...
Eternal time...well actually it is like that, God created us to live eternally with Him, that was the original plan, then everything was cut short due to man's disobedience, even so God continues to love us and sent his son Jesus Christ to Let each of us choose if we want to spend present and future eternity with Him.
