Around November last year, I decided to apply for a job to cater for some of my needs in school. I didn’t know this will be a regrettable action for me but I was only having the mind set of making money through a legal source.
I applied for the role of a sales representative at one of the agro- business company closer to the hostel I was staying around school. I was so happy when I got the job because my body and mind don’t like to be idle, I love working if the job is having a good pay and it’s legal.
My first day at work was very stressful, I couldn’t Imagine the kind of stress I went through then. I came to realize that it’s isn’t easy to be a man.
Along the line I began to work with some senior colleague at the feed mill to produce more feeds for the layers, boilers and finishers at the poultry farm. This was where the real work starts from, I had to wake up around 6:00am in the morning to take my bath, eat and tidy up my room before leaving for work.
I remember then, I had to take some body pain relief drug to respite the body pain I was going through after work.
The closing time was around 6:00pm but I have to resume 8:00am. I didn’t inform my elder brother about my new job and this really affected me.
With the stress and the little amount I was earning, I learnt a lot from the job. I was taught how to make feeds and how to differentiate one from another.
I was given the opportunity to nurture some little boilers, also to know the drugs to be used for them to grow quickly and how to create some heat for them to avoid cold and also to avoid sudden death.
I learnt that most of the waste products from Gala, Biscuits, Bread and cheese balls are combined with maize to make some particular feeds for layers some for finisher/boiler.
At the end of the day after I’m done at work, I will have to walk home without any source for transport fare. After a period of time, I broke down and I was admitted to the hospital to treat malaria/typhoid and also from the report the doctor gave me, I was told I have a high number of bacteria in my body system. This made to quit the job and out of the little salary I was expected to earn, I was given half of the salary to treat myself.
I hope you’ve learnt a lot from this little write up, please before working always confirm if the particular job you’re getting [especially factory job] won’t affect your health.
This is really important, only those that are alive will be able to work.
i feel you @uncle2 i used to work at one india factory which because I was a little bit strong, they tiok advantage of it and almost killed me...
health is wealth , if yiu make all the money and fall sick and die, someone else will enjoy your sweat...
