”Friends of the Farmer” a launch and brewing workshop
at Maverick and Farmer 👩🏻🌾
One of the first events at their cafe that revolved around the farmer and how the coffees are being produced, the traditional and modern practices that give rise to new fermented beverages.
Lot of the coffee customers are into flavoured coffees and added spices, syrups and other ingredients that enhances their taste. This event focused on naturally occurring coffee characteristics that already exist in the cherry and it’s being fermented to bring out their flavours without adding foreign flavoured ingredients.
This coffee was produced by the 4th generation coffee planter of St. Margaret Estate. The 100 year old estate that is owned by the Mascarenhas family is situated in Chikmagalur. A plantation with a good gene pool of wildlife along with the local coffee community.
The girl in white is Lynn, the newest member of the Mascarenhas family that has introduced the production of fine robustas at her farm. She is the head of communication for the farm, she often has events to share her coffee knowledge with the coffee enthusiasts and showcases the basics of cupping to other farmers and the coffee community.
Yeast fermented coffee were made with the brewers yeast, saccharomyces cerevisiae which aimed at producing a cup with tropical fruity flavours. The roasters skill at Maverick and Farmer ended up with an interesting taste of coffee that was rich in tropical fruity complex notes and strong hints of caramel. T’was bold and sweet, flavours that complemented so well with the nibbles they provided.
Yeast Fermented Coffee
Yeast Fermented Coffee
Launched one of our best coffees of 2023 at Maverick and Farmer. The coffee underwent natural process, where the beans were fermented within the skin of the cherry. The sticky mucilage within the cherry interacted with the microbes and deposited byproducts on the bean.
Coffee with a twist 🌀
A coffee that was scored by Ajay Reddy, a Q processor, roasted well by Ashish D’abreo and brewed by Fiyaz Tharkar.

Lynn focused on highlighting the importance of specialist and generalist birds that are found within the plantations ecosystem. How the plantations acts as a surrogate for the forest birds. Specific aves like the yellow browed bulbul, Malabar grey hornbill, southern hill mynas, white bellied woodpecker are some unique species seen at their estate.
Large Coffee Community
Meet the brewers community who were interested to try out this newly released brew. The orange slurp-a-licous drink was clean and uniform, while the aromas were tempting. Creating such subtle slips is what we are great at.
The 2022 champion of the Indian national barista champion was one of them 😉
Can you spot him?
The cafe at Ulsoor Bangalore was filled with customers which is located next to the football turf 🥅 Loads of customers and event attendees were present. The attendees were also taught how to brew using aeropress and pour over equipment. This made them learn the nitty gritty of coffee brewing techniques. The temperature of water, grind size and the importance of pouring water in circles to wet all the grinds.
Cafés always Lit up 🔥
The event went on for two hours and was showcase on the next days newspaper 🗞️
