A coffee in Piú [EN/SP]

in Cinnamon Cup Coffee2 years ago (edited)

Hello, Hivers and awesome people of the Cinnamon Cup Coffee community. We are saying goodbye to November and I wish you all a great Christmas and New Year's Eve season.

Yesterday, I was running some errands with my aunt, in a part of town where there are still a few traditional spots. And one of them is a small coffee shop with a bohemian atmosphere called Caffé Piú.

The coffee shop has been operating there for years. About ten years ago, I used to work in that area and Caffé Piú was my must stop. Of course, when it was open. At that time, the owner was the one behind the counter and I remember there was a sign that said. We open when we open and close when we close. Which meant that the cafe ran when they wanted it to. It wasn't uncommon to arrive and find it closed, or someday day to find it open in the evening. Now that doesn't seem to be the case, they are open on weekdays in the morning and the afternoon and they don't work on weekends. And at least yesterday, the owner wasn't manning the bar.

What hasn't changed is the house specialty, the D'Piú coffee. A coffee with condensed milk, espresso, cinnamon and cocoa powder. It was delicious.

The cafe also retains that bohemian atmosphere, with lots of vintage details in its decoration.

The walls are full of photos of some local famous people who have visited the cafe and news reviews about Caffe Piú and its history. And also news of the family history of the owner. The Misciagna family tradition with coffee came from generations. The father of Piú's owner had a famous cafe in Caracas for 45 years, named Café Vomero.

Some of the decoration are reminiscent of the living room of a house, and is like if you were visiting and you were invited to a cup of coffee. Most of the objects belonged to the Misciagna family.

It was nice to sit and have a coffee there after long time without visiting it. My aunt had a small cappuccino because she didn't want to have anything sweet. And the coffee according to her was very good. And I don't doubt it. I hope to go back soon to grab an espresso, which always had the reputation of being one of the best in town.

I'm glad to see that the place is still there and working, that It has survived the terrible crisis in Venezuela in recent years and even the pandemic. And I will surely visit it more often these days as I have some business to attend to in the area.

Hello @coquicoin, nice post:) and great cafe!

We open when we open and close when we close.

That's a unique concept, I like it.
Artsy looking shop too. I'm happy a place like this remains open too, as small businesses are the ones that suffer most during difficult times:)

Hi @millycf1976! I liked the concept too, is really unique. The cafe is very nice and it was even better when the owner used to be there all the time chatting with the customers at the bar.
Cheers!

That place looks inviting and cozy sis :) It is good that it still survives despite economic troubles. I take that their coffee are really good :)

Their coffee is very good and it is one of the most traditional coffees making Italian-style espresso here. Cheers, sis! Happy hump day to you :)

That's cool, cheers to you too sis! It's hump day indeed and the first of December too :)
