TRADITIONAL BELIEF - Taboo or superstition you will tell

in Hive Learners β€’ 2 years ago

Hello my most wonderful people
I'm here with another content that is sure going to thrill you and I hope it doesn't scare you again 😁😁, but it's actually based on my people's TRADITIONAL BELIEFS and I'm sure it may thrill you, stay tuned.

I'm not sure I need to mention where I'm from over and over again, but for the sake of those Coming New, I'm from Kwale and this TRADITIONAL BELIEF I'm Sharing affects and relates to every Kwale person you know, I grew up in the village for about five years before coming to the city for greener pastures... Greener pastures for😁😁

Well there are so many BELIEFS AND PRACTICES that's really surprising that my people engage in one of them is:

  • No snail eating
  • Crocodile is worshipped
  • No cocoyam eating

I'll talk about one for today,
I guess some of you have watched some of these documentaries on TV where they show Aqua life (CROCODILE) and the size of some are actually bigger than your imagination and scares some of us. Well, in my place we have the ones bigger than what your eyes has seen on TVs... Reasons because you don't dare kill one, even if you kill, you don't go just free

It dated back to story from the old,
where our fore fathers were in war and they were being chased by their enemies and they ran to a dead end (A RIVER) no where to go anymore... But to their greatest surprise something like big stones started lifting up from the river, behold it was the back of CROCODILES 🐊, not just one but the whole River was divided and a path was created for them to cross over (YOU THINKING OF THE RED SEA STORY RIGHT πŸ€”πŸ˜πŸ˜)

Well it happened that they crossed successfully but out of fear, but immediately all of them crossed the river, the CROCODILES 🐊 went back into the water and they were free from their enemies, and that was truly how they escaped and their clan was saved.

So from that very onset they decided that it should be worshipped and they all called it (NNE ENYI) "which means our mother".

They set up a special day that it should be served and guess what during the celebration, They must kill a COWπŸ„, and it must be shared into two parts, and guess who chooses first ?... The CROCODILES 🐊, how do you know they've collected... After The meat is shared, they tell Dem (ANYI AE KAE TER OO) "which means we are done sharing oo"... Imediately ants 🐜 are going to gather one of the meats and you know that is theirs. In few minutes they'll start coming out to carry the meats into the river.

And the remaining part is prepared for the rest of the people present there to eat.

And when a woman delivers it comes to visit the baby also, and songs of enchantment will be sang before they'll go (THE CROCODILE). The scary part is that if you are an indigen who has left home for long or you were birthed outside of the village. When you come visiting and you make a statement that you've not seen the CROCODILES 🐊 before, guess what? You'll wake up to see it lying cross your door step and they won't go until you that called it will come see it and tell it that you've seen it, then songs of enchantment will be sang before they'll go.

Mistakenly your fish trap catches it, and it dies, you will give it a befitting burial. It's a must else it will hold you, even non indigens that were hiding to kill it and sell it outside the community, they were held spiritually and their tongues were coming out almost touching the ground (BIG MOMMY CONFIRMED THIS STATEMENT). They had to serve for them...

And lastly as an indigen you don't dare kill, eat or watch where they are killing and eating it, if you come across them, you are to buy it from them and free it, or bury it if they've killed it already.

I don't know how and why it works this way but it really does, but it's mostly for those who strongly believes in it that is why you will hear of our neighboring village (THE OROGU PEOPLE) if you visit their community you have IGUANAS strolling around freely like you see normal fowl and goats move about.

I feel it should be abolished though, because those things can actually affect children spiritually and it can be the source of problems in some persons lives because of oats and covenants made by their forefathers.

This is where we'll call it a day and I do hope to hear from you too, reviews and contributions are accepted.
WILL YOU WANT TO VISIT MY COMMUNITY AND EXPERIENCE THE TREAT? Just be truthful

Till next post, do well to stay safe

Please what could this IGUANAS means...
And I want to ask a question Please am in no way trying to challenge you
My question is have you seen all this with your eyes
Example πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

The scary part is that if you are an indigen who has left home for long or you were birthed outside of the village. When you come visiting and you make a statement that you've not seen the CROCODILES 🐊 before, guess what? You'll wake up to see it lying cross your door step and they won't go until you that called it will come see it and tell it that you've seen it, then songs of enchantment will be sang before they'll go

Iguanas are reptile species just like crocodiles or alligators, but different in look and body texture... I've touched one before they are deaf in nature only run when they sight you. An you mostly find them in swampy areas close to fish ponds

And as for the partπŸ‘‡

My question is have you seen all this with your eyes

I haven't experienced it in person, remember I left the village when I was tender to find greener pastures 😁
But my Mom is a witness even my big aunty she affirmed it too
And if you go to the Orogun village I bet you will find these CREATURES moving about freely

Thanks for coming around πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

Common sweet brother, I love Greener pastures tooπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™Œ

That is a very interesting traditional beliefe you have there my friend.
maybe it is just because of the role that the crocodile have nor that the folklore is really happening.

Β 2 years agoΒ Β

Yeah sure it's what it did for them
And they don't joke with it

Thanks for coming around πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

I will never in my life visit your Community! What sort of scary tradition is this. This is too horrible and should be abolished Biko.

If one mistakenly kill the crocodile, he will give it a befitting burial with πŸ„ cow, hmmmm you are guys living there are really trying.

Anyways thanks for sharing this your Traditional belief, if you see my leg in your Community, use knives and cut it offπŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

Β 2 years agoΒ Β

You're speaking out of fear I can tell😁😁, but these CREATURES from this part is harmless you'll be surprised

And as for the burial it's not done with a cow, I didn't say so... You only give them a normal burial, it's the feast that is Celebrated with a cow πŸ„

Thanks for coming around, hope to see you in my community when I'm getting married πŸƒπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Β 2 years agoΒ Β

Γ“mo!!..
For some reason I'm kind of impressed with this belief πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚..
Wow, the red sea happened in your community, and the funny thing is there's no way to affirm or refute the story.

It's quite scary, having crocodiles around and worshipping them. I don't think I'll want to experience meeting a crocodile but then it's a great adventure.
The belief surely must have been taken too extreme by people. The crocodiles certainly might have been helpful to the community but then worshipping them is too much.

I can actually let the belief stay because I don't understand why people would eat crocodiles or do anything to such wildlife, humans don't value these creatures and a lot of other ones and it's not good.

I don't envy people in that Community at all πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Great post. @khingstan β€οΈβ€οΈβœ…

Thanks for coming around @chincoculbert the sea was parted In my community, but we don't know who was the Moses of the time 😁😁

And as for the eating part by people I can't really tell what's appetizing in meats of such πŸ˜’πŸ˜’, but it's their choice

Thanks for the complimentπŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡βœŒοΈ

Wow... This is truly interesting.
But quick question, does the crocodile attack people? Or is it harmless provided it is not provoked?
And also, is it all crocodiles that are worshipped or just one particular one.
I really enjoyed reading this, thank you for sharing this with us.

Β 2 years agoΒ Β

No they don't attack people, except for the female protecting their eggs they can be really aggressive... But on a norms they don't harm !!

Every crocodile is worshipped... Not one in particular

I'm glad you enjoyed the read
Thanks for coming around
