So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week, which is “MONETIZATION”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “CHOICE OR DISEASE”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us about their thoughts on addictions and how it affected us. For many, addiction is seen as a choice, because every day that we fall to our addiction can be seen as a day that we refuse to fight to be free from it.
We also saw members who saw it as more than a choice, as a matter of fact, it was way past being a choice because of the effects addiction can have on people and how many find it difficult to be able to break away from it’s hold on them. No matter how they fight it, they’d find themselves gravitating right back to it. This was an enlightening topic, indeed.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w192e3; tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there, it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. This author told us that in today’s world, many people are addicted without even knowing it. And besides the more popular ones, social media addiction is a major culprit. Gambling is also a major issue, and the ease with which people can get access to it and thus get addicted is alarming. He sees it as a disease because once you get the bug, it’s always hard to come back.
For this author, he talked about how addiction is something that can happen even to the best of us. He sees it as a psychological disease, especially seeing how the people who hate addictions the most are those who suffer from it. They need help because they are powerless to do the needful themselves. Breaking free from an addiction isn’t something a person can undertake alone.

For this author, he talked about how addiction is something that can destroy people’s lives and their families. So, due to the devastating effect it can have, he sees it as a choice. Knowing that something is bad for you and still doing or taking that thing is a choice, a bad one, but still a choice because they are willing to feel good in the short term at the risk of getting worse in the long term.
