Had To Be a Weeping Willow

Hiya Hivers!

Welcome to my Tree Tuesday.

I must say it is a somewhat sad one as well. So all the photos I show will be ones that I think have a sadness about them.

Thanks to @dswigle for working on Always a Flower so we have a nice community to share flower photos.

So you ask why are you sad, Old Guy? Well it seems that grand old fiddler, Charlie Daniels, has passed on to the big concert in the sky. He was 83 years old and an outspoken supporter of our troops as well as kids through St Judes.

While I was a kid growing up, if I was not outside or at school, I would be in the basement playing the usual hits from Zeppelin or Ozzy. However unlike many other kids, I also had on some Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Jr, and of course the CDB. Now every one knows the Devil Went Down to Georgia, but I favored the attitude of songs like Long Haired Country Boy.

I saw Charlie play live for free several times as he used to headline the Hoedown right down in the center of Detroit every year. He always had bright eyes and a bright smile!

I remember reading once where Charlie said he was not a natural player of the guitar or fiddle, but rather he had to work hard at it. Well be that as it may, he sure as hell had me fooled coz no one ever seemed more at ease and having fun than Charlie Daniels. He will be missed.

Charlie Daniels will surely be missed by many. In many recounts of his history, they describe him as Southern rock, country, and bluegrass music. I would have to agree that he was a multi-language crossover on that front.

The Devil went down to Georgia was his most well-known, but, I have to agree with you, Paul, he had some pretty cool songs and I don't even like country. :)

He and Marshall Tucker Band has announced in January that they would be doing a hook up this year and go on tour. He was a patriot, not because he went in the military, but, because of an incident when he was a young man changed the way he looked at the world. He had a fierce love of God and Country.

May he Rest in Peace, rest in peace.

As an aside your pictures of the dying flowers are awesome! And thanks for the shout-out for #alwaysaflower

I love Weeping Willows- they're such gentle and delicate looking leaves with great trunks of stories.
Thank you.

He sure was a talented man and loved by many. The weeping willow and dying roses are very fitting. RIP

Yes, he was one talented musician!
