my first wednesday walk entry

in Wednesday Walk3 years ago (edited)

i had a short wednesday walk today around the harbor at sunset but the sky was too gray for any sunset photos. so i focused on everyday subjects within a short distance of my house. here are a few

it's the middle of lobster season but this time of year we often get stormy weather and last night was a rough one. i expect these traps will be set again soon.

apart from the lobster boats there are fewer and fewer remaining in the water

the footbridge over the entrance to the inner harbor is a highlight of the area. the structure with the odd roof is actually on an island over 1 km out to sea but the shot is taken close to the surface of the water so it is somewhat (intentionally) confusing. a couple of centuries ago it was a storage house for gunpowder for the naval base on the mainland.

here the distance to the island is clear

the bridge saves about 2 km walking (or running) from one side of the harbor to the other

i'll leave you to ponder what this is.

Funny how camera angles can create such interesting optical illusions.

I think the last photo is of two lights. Maybe the tail lights of a car?

very close. they are tail lights of a russian food wagon designed to be stationary but can be driven as a trailer. some thai women serve thai food from it. the color of the lights are original but here the back end is in black and white.

Good to know I was pretty close. I knew it didn't look like any tail lights I'd seen here in the US.

What a great walk and welcome to the Wednesday Walk
Love all the images and am intrigued what that last one is
We are having a big storm passing through right now trees down all over and powerlines down luckily we still have power

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

when my grandkids lived in new york i used to send them series of photos with accompanying text from walks around this area in norway. they recently moved back home so i stopped but i enjoyed sharing those walks and they loved to see scenes from their homeland. so now i found this community and can continue sharing from my local walks in the different seasons with new folks and get to experience their walks as well. so nice!

That’s great funnily enough when I used to live and work in NYC I would send photos back to my family in New Zealand

Glad this community give you motivation to share walks in your area
