An essential part of living the outskirts, which like metaphorical river meanders are born in the Puerta del Sol and will lead, in this case, to that small Madrid Broadway, which is the Gran Vía, also means getting lost in its most popular streets.
In this small, but I hope pleasant walk, I propose as an itinerary, to descend the two hundred meters, approximately, that separate the Gran Vía from the Puerta del Sol.
And do it, through one of its most popular streets, which is none other than the famous Montera street, where still, on that Chinese corner with Caballero de Gracia street and its famous oratory, any of you can suddenly find yourself, with some of the marginal characters that after all covered with a certain humanity the literary works of writers, such as Valle Inclán.
However, to avoid arousing suspicions, we will do the walk during the day, when the city begins to wake up and its social gear also begins to open its eyes, reluctantly, proceeding to dump that metaphorical degreaser of the soul, which in my view , is the coffee.
You will observe, among the chiaroscuro of some modernist buildings and palaces that patiently wait for the sun to be at its zenith to seduce with its beauty, some terraces that, although they long to hang the posters completely at noon, nevertheless have a faithful clientele that promises another day of blessed work.
I understand that the continuous traffic of delivery vans that continuously dispute the rights of movement of pedestrians is annoying, but it must also be recognized that the walk would not be objective, if we left out that part of a coexistence that could basically be considered, worth the comparison, as our daily bread.
Ignoring, then, that detail, they will see that human trafficking is acquiring the character not only festive of the thousands of visitors who are still rushing the last days of their well-deserved summer vacations, but also of all those lucky ones, who are more or less happy They go to their jobs every day, which basically is the manna that feeds them.
They will distinguish one and the other, by their way of walking: slow in the case of the former and paying close attention to some shop windows that are beginning to open their doors, giving them winks so that they pass and take advantage of their opportunities and that rush and indifference of the latter, whose steps, accelerated, indicate that they may be late and have to stay longer at work, making up for lost time.
And when you arrive at Puerta del Sol, be it for a matter of tonalities or space or because the white of its most emblematic buildings seduces without remission the rays of a sun that begins to become strong in the sky, it will seem that they have just Finding an unexpected oasis where you can unleash the needs of your thirst, whatever it may be.

Love the old buildings with their elaborate balconies... :) Happy Wednesday, my friend!
Me too, certainly. I have always thought of them as a true fantasy of design and imagination. A hug, my friend.
Gracias @juancar347 por este lindo paseo.
Gracias a ti por acompañarme. Saludos
Streets look empty, bcoz of the early hours? Where r the tourists? I like the building in the 6th photo.
Ha ha ha ... yes, it's early. Many tourists will still be in the hotel room, recovering from the night's hangover; others, you see them sitting on the terraces and some, the early risers, strolling. All are period buildings, more or less renovated and adapted to modern businesses. Greetings
