I don't remember that I have ever had that long break from posting... Like eight days? And before that one another week without publishing a single post? Maybe there was a time I was slow in posting, but I will not go back to search for what happened in the past.
I know what happened now.
As you may know (or not) I was not at "home" for some time. Arrived back just a few days ago, and what challenging days were those before we started our travel back to Spain! Husband got very sick, with fever, headaches, nausea and not moving from the bed for a week. I had my own things, that are still under treatment but I am going to better. The travel had to be delayed. My job was waiting, too many gigs were already cancelled and it was the time I could not allow myself any new cancellations. So we did it, we gathered all our forces and took the steering wheel. We hit the road. Three days and the Spanish heat also hit us when we arrived.
The extremely hot weather made a perfect background for many forest fires. While we were coming home, from the highway we saw areas with smoke. It was a bit sad to know the forest fires are still not calming down. The same fire is still on, and it affected also the mountains that I can see from our home. Yesterday evening we were watching the smoke coming from the mountains that are situated in the north.
While we were watching that smoke (yesterday evening), my husband was joking with me: You are going tomorrow there? To the fire?
Well, yes! I had to go today to the village Guadalest which is located in the mountains, more precisely on the top of a rocky formation. And, once again, I had to take my stage piano with me, as it happened in this post too. The village had some celebrations and I played with two singers at a ceremony.
The whole village was decorated with these colourful tiny flags. Maybe they have a special name that I am not aware of? Let's leave it as decoration, that makes the streets of Guadalest more cheerful :))
Why the village also can be happy at the moment is the fact the fire is still on the other side of the mountains. If it comes closer, the people would have to be evacuated, as it happens in the other settlements that are close to the fire-affected areas. At the moment, this super-packed with tourist village is safe, but... Who knows how the wind will behave, as the heat, dry weather and strong wind are not helping in this situation.
Back to the topic of why I came today to this place and my gig.
The ceremony I played at started at 12:30. The two singer colleagues and I arrived a bit earlier, unpacked the piano and had a short rehearsal to try the acoustic and practice once again. Still, I got half an hour before the thing started so a short walk was a perfect addition to the visit.
In those 30 minutes, you can walk through the village even twice, and take refreshment or a coffee if you want! Just a few streets, a lot of people, shops, museums and a square from where the lake can be seen. All can easily fit in that time.
The view of the lake is probably already known to those who sometimes open my posts.
Well, posts, when I used to write them.
Thanks to a gentle reminder I received in a form of a question about why I am slow in posting lately, this one comes today. A place I visited today because of the gig I had, but also it was an opportunity to take a short walk under those colourful flags. The realization that today is Wednesday made me chase away all the excuses why I would not publish it today.
Beautiful pictures!
From the photos of the view from the height of the mountains, it takes your breath away!
👍
Thank you @ludmila.kyriakou, the village is on the top of a rock so the views when the day is clear are stunning 😍
Yes, the view is great!
the heat has been very vicious .... we are experiencing the same here in italy.
i trust this message finds you fully recovered and full of vitality.... same for your husband
Thank you @themagus :))
Take care if that heat is going your way too!
I hope all is good at your side 🙂
all good thanks. my bestest half away for 18 days .... and today is only day 2 {sob} .... but on the positive side ... i am doing my italian lessons at last.
I’m so glad to hear you arrived safely home again @mipiano 😊🥰 welcome to Spain!
Hope you will recover soon too. Do take it easy… don’t overdo it. I hubby all better?
Such a beautiful and colourful little village you visited for your gig, especially with the decorations. Cute little streets and what a views 🤩😎 beautiful… great photographs 🤩
Yes, sadly still everywhere fires 🔥 it is crazy this year. And the heat doesn’t give in. Our a/c never got fixed or replaced… but we decided to move out now the contract ends in 3 weeks. I’m packing boxes 📦 in this heat 🥵🥵 found a great place we can stay for the next 10 months. Closer to work too.
But slowly packing as I have been and still are sick with the flu/ bad cold for almost 3 weeks now 😔 so taking it still easy… but told you that already I thought.
Seems all is taking longer, even with your health.
Do take care 🤗😊 Bigg hugg
Have a wonderful evening 👋🏻☀️
Yes, we arrived a few days ago. I unpacked, cleaned the house, and spent an afternoon recovering the plants :) haha, had already two gigs and other usual tasks. But I will try not to overdo anything. It is so warm, it is best just to be inside, with the air conditioner... However, of the three units we have in the apartment, two stopped to cool the air!! 😱 Just one working!!
Called already the technicians, they will come but they have too much work! So, we try to cool down the apartment just with one, it's ok, but would be good if the other units would work too.
Yeah, I know your struggles but I am happy you found another place. The boxes and packing, it's another story and pain hahaha, but you will do it well! Once you are in the new one, a huge rock will fall from your shoulders, I am sure.
Take it easy you too, and wishing you a full recovery too. It takes time, husb is still not 100% well, but can't be compared to how he was.
A hug to you too, try to cool down somehow without the a/c 🤗
The things that need to be done after returning from a trip 🤓 and not to forget the plants. Sounds like you done a lot already.
O no… your units stopped too 😳 I know the struggle… here the thermometer says 31 degrees inside 🥵🥶 it is so hot, when you start doing something… the sweat is coming I standby.
Soon all will be over and this struggle will be so worth it.
New place is a house with garden 😁🤩 yeah! We will enjoy it as long as we will be there.
I’m packing now with the focus on not unpacking. New place has everything. I will only unpack personal stuff… the rest will stay in boxes until our big move 😎
Thank you so much for the well wishes and hug 🤗
Hope you and your hubby will be 100% soon 🍀🍀🍀
You know my secret… I’m cuddling ice packs hahahaha 🤣😂🤣😂 only way to cool down.
Enjoy the evening @mipiano
Hahahhaa, I didn't know this 😂😂
Jackie, that is a crazy idea hahaha, but effective 😎
It is the only way, especially with (pre menopause) hot flashes and no a/c 31 degrees inside.
It works and gives me a little relief…
Don’t tell further 😉🤓💃🏻
Hahaha 🤣
Hope you're feeling better now, I imagine it couldn't have been nice to perform when you're not quite yourself. The fire in Spain is one the news as I write right now, it looks really serious. Hope all is well where you are.
Yay, Hivers united to bring information 😍
Thank you too, now we know one thing more :))
The fires didn't get to our place, it is good at the moment, but I didn't like what we saw :/ Hope the houses of so many families will stay safe and they could return home.
I am ok now, husband is also getting better every day, soon and we will be in top form again :D
Hello again. I'll see your eight and raise you 15. = }
Hello to you too :)
Let's not count :D... Those are just numbers, but that 23 is indeed... a lot :))
8 in a row also got me worried! Thaaaaats so not you!
But hey, welcome back!
I already told you how much I like your gig locations, but I liiiike them!
Decoration always fascinated me, how much time does it takes to set it up, did you count how many flags where there? :p
I know, that 8 in the row was not really me, but things happened. And in all that I just simply forgot there is a button which says Create a post ...
hahaha, now you make me regret why I didn't count the flags 🤣
you just have crazy ideas :P
What beautiful landscapes, it is a pleasure to see them and I would love to be there sometime.
I hope that little by little those fires are put out so they don't continue to wreak havoc. The heat is very intense these days.
Please take care that you and your husband make a full recovery. Greetings and I congratulate you for such beautiful pictures. 🌷🤗
Hey @maydelvalle!
Happy to see you joining me on this day, here in Spain. :)
Thank you, we will try to recover 100% as soon as possible, but it takes maybe a bit of time. We will have patience ;)
The forest fires are not nice, we also hope they will be put out soon. Last year there were not so many fires around as this year. Thank you so much for your wishes and for stopping by 🤗
such a beautiful village love the streets and the colorful flags, hard to imagine the fires are so close to there
stay safe
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
It is beautiful, so a lot of tourists visit it to make a change from the beach and sunbathe :)
For me, a lot better option is to stroll in a mountain village instead of being just on the seashore. I do like the beach but before the tourists occupy it completely :D
Ohh yes I think as with most things in life variety is important, sometimes beaches sometimes out with nature in forests and trails, I dont have mountains here to explore
hi there 👋
that’s nice you got back :) here the connection is terrible, posting and sharing will be complicated ^^
Difficult to imagine the fires this close, though it seems quite dry !
I hope you and your husband will recover and be fine at full speed ☺️
Really enjoyed your tour in this beautiful village, that’s nice how they decorated it !
Have a good evening 🍀 hope too that you’re representation went nicely !
Thank you @anttn
Oh, internet connection, don't even mention it hahaha. Well, for the whole time being away we got just mobile data, so I was constantly buying the packages 😂 and also used the places that had wifi to connect.
Yes, this part of Spain is dry, so the fires come easily. Unfortunately.
Have a good evening you too 😃, the event yesterday went better than expected and I was also surprised how nicely they decorated the whole village (though it is not a big one, so a few streets and that's it)
hahahah ^^ for sure, this could be a pain ! but it’s also interesting to play according to the limitations :D
It’s so nice when it goes even more than expected 🌟 sweet surprises :)
I wish you a very pleasant weekend and hope for some rain for you and your garden - as for recovery to both of you 🤞🏼 !
Beautiful village 🤩, surrounded by a rocky hills. Well, can't imagine how it is in actual seeing wild fire and people have to be evacuated is just hard. I hope everyone will be safe.
Glad that you and your husband are getting better and that you are back!. I have now the answers why you were so quiet.I would love to see you play piano too!
Yeah, that is why I was silent, a bit of everything that came and then posting was just put away from my schedule and habits. I am glad you also liked the village, it was indeed nice to see the festive atmosphere and participate in the celebration 🎶 :)) Thank you for stopping by 😇
we call it buntings down here. I'm not sure in other places tho.
I love the lake view and I hope you recover fully soon @mipiano . ❤️
Hey @chichi18 😃
Thank you guys for letting me know, now I know it can be called banderitas in Spanish, pennants and buntings in English :)
Thanks for your wishes, we are almost good as we were before the virus troubles :))
I thought I just missed your post as I was kinda busy last week.
Glad to know you felt better now as well as your husband. It's hard when the better half is sick, as for me I felt that I am too😬.
Maybe it was because of climate? Like it was too hot sometimes in the day time till evening then too cold at dawn. Even I catched colds.
I haven't heard about forest fires, sorry for that 😥.
You're into music? Playing instruments or vocalist?
Yes, I am into music, well a pianist, but I don't sing. 🎶
We for sure got a virus, it was not just an easy cold, but now it is almost over, not 100% but almost :))
Here we call it pennants, I don't know how that translates. It really makes the place look more cheerful and beautiful because of the colors that accompany the landscapes. It is sad what is happening with the fires, I hope it will be solved soon.
I hope your health is restored to one hundred percent and you get back in the swing of things. Thank you for this publication, greetings!
Oh yes, it would be pennants 😃 (banderines, verdad?)
Thank you for the information, I appreciate your input 🙌
We do hope also that the fires will be put out, but until it is this warm and dry, + the wind... it is not very good. The planes and helicopters usually take the water from this lake for extinguishing the fires that are around. When it is closer to the seashore, from the sea. And thanks you for your wishes, we will recover and get back to normality 😇
Very wonderful view and wonderful shot 📸
Sometimes we are weighed down by different challenges, and most times these challenges come at a single time from different directions. Their aim is to discourage us and lead us into despair, but it is important that we gear up and always push harder to fight back.
I pray that you and your husband get well soon, and become hale and hearty 🥰
Welcome back @mipiano
Your comment is full of encouragement, thank you so much @ksam! You are right, sometimes the challenges are here to discourage, but fighting back is the only option we have if we don't want to stop moving :) Thank you!!
Exactly 💯
You are highly welcome
😇
Is your place celebrating a fiesta? In our place, we used those flags as a decor if we celebrate it once in a year. The lake is beautiful. It's my first time seeing it here in your posts, probably because I don't usually drop by. I'm really amazed by it, so blue.
Yes, there was a fiesta in that village, so that is why they put all those colourful flags (in the meantime someone in the comments said they are called pennants 😀 )
Thanks for stopping by, well you could not visit a lot of my posts, as recently I was a bit silent, but hopefully, it would change for better on my publishing side :D
Here in the Philippines, we called it "Banderitas". It is always fun at fiestas, more foods! 😄
Oh! So, that's why I haven't seen you in a while in my feed. Nice to see you again, then.
Hahah, yes, fiestas always go with food and here the people really like to celebrate everything, so many reasons for celebrations and of course, food :D
I miss you so much for your Wednesday Walk's posts, honestly if i say you are a great writer.
In addition to the beautiful photos, you explain very well and like a writer, i like to read your posts until the end💯
Hey there @discouragedones
Thank you for your comment, I am glad you like to read my posts. I am somehow with the feeling they are not very good, but maybe it's just me. Not a promise, but now when I am back maybe the posting activity will also get better :))
Looks lovely, I do miss Spain.
You used to live in Spain too? Ok, I checked now some of your posts, you have lived in Spain for eight years, but you moved, now I know :))
Thanks for stopping by 😇
Yes we were there for many years, mu heart is still there when I see you photos, Beautiful place.
Spain is a beautiful country, enjoy :)
It is, thanks :)
The flags really are a nice addition. Great views too!!
The views are amazing, so many people are coming here to see the lake. When the day is clear, it is very nice, the contrast between the blue and the turquoise colour of the lake is lovely. It was not that clear air today.
The colourful flags made up for that hahaha
