For this week, I chose Octopider in my art style. What an interesting card, hehe. It looks like a morph of two animals. 😄
"You may be thinking, “A spider already has eight legs… Why Octopider?” For one thing, the Octopider is much larger than a spider, closer to the size of an octopus. Its legs, although they can scurry like a spider, are actually the tentacles of an octopus.
In fact, this monstrosity has nearly all the most terrifying features of both spiders and octopi. The Octopider can move easily in water or on land. Whenever threatened, the Octopider disappears into an inky, venomous cloud. They say the Octopider was a grotesque creation of the Gorlodon, a famed monstrous dark sorcerer of the deep water."

Art Process

- sketch and line art
From the name alone of this card, I can already tell that it is the combination of a spider of an octopus and a spider. So, is it going to be a sea creature or not? 😄. Whatever the case, this is a cool card!
I looked for a reference to a spider coz I feel like the shape is closer to a spider compared to an octopus. I had to make sure that the spider ref has 8 legs, haha. Coz Pinterest has AI generated pictures which you can check them by looking for the AI tag. I used a pencil textured pen for the lineart.

-base color and initial shading
It has the typical villain color palette- red and purple. It makes the character filled with negative energy. I used a tool called a color picker. I just adjusted the hues and sats so that they would match the environment later on. I used a soft airbrush for the initial shading in a multiply layer. I sectioned the parts by using different layers. I then put in a folder for another clipped layer on top.

In this phase the rendering on the main subject is complete! to seal it, I used a shine on the top portion of octopiser. For the background, I thought of the deep ocean where the big octopus live. I started with choosing the right shade of the color blue. Since it is in the deep ocean, I chose a darker shade of blue. I will then color it again in a gradient form.
Final Art

I used a textured brush for the silhouette of a rock formation, which kind of acted like a cave where Octpider is hiding. I then used a special brush for the corals. Originally, I was going for the seaweeds and kelp, but I remembered that I already used those brushes from the last entry, hehe. So, for a change, I used the coral brushes this time. For the bubbles, the same as with the corals, it was a downloaded brush from the asset store. I used different sizes of bubbles for some dimensions. I also used different layers so that I can move the bubbles one by one in parts. In the background, I used a white glow for the gradient of the ocean on the background.
Tadaaa! I hope I imparted some knowledge through my art process! 😊 Feel free to ask anything in the comment section, and I will answer to the best of my skill!! 🥳💕
