Well, of course my mom can't do the jury duty as my mom passed away in July of 2023. Of course I will let them know that she is deceased.

I usually go to jury duty if they call me. I actually find them interesting. But sometimes you just have to do something more important like make a living.

I used to work for my telephone company and they did pay me to go do jury duty, so I really didn't have an excuse. Also I thought it was more interesting than actually going to work.

Plus you get to meet people that are also in the jury from different backgrounds. It can be a change from the mundane.

Even if my mom was alive today, I don't think she would like to go. One reason is that my mom would be 94 today had she lived. I personally think 94 year old people should be excused from doing jury duty.

I think a juror should have a reasonable memory. I mean to remember what the witnesses said, as there is back and forth in a jury trial.

People that are in their 90's might be on meds that make them sleepy. Well, can you imagine being in the jury box and you can hear the judge, addressing you to wake up? That wouldn't look good.

I am 66 years old as I write and 30 years from now I would be 96 years old, God willing, at that time I might be called to do jury duty. If my mind is not sharp and my hearing is dull, I might try to excuse myself from doing jury duty.

Come to think about it, my mom had she lived might not be able to hear all the witnesses talk. One must hear the witnesses talk in a trial to come up with a sure verdict. So to be on jury duty one must have reasonable hearing.

So I will let the courthouse know that my mom is deceased.

Let's end with a scripture, Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this the whole of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13.
