In today's world it is very important to know some trade or several more trades, when our world is becoming more and more "virtual" where traditional trades are becoming scarce and it is less and less common to see people with tools in hand going from door to door offering services.
In addition to this, in countries like ours in Latin America, even when you have a profession one more trade opens a range of opportunities considering that we have many professionals who do not exercise their professions for lack of opportunities.
Another reason why it is important to learn a trade or several, lies in the "independence" that can give you know trades that allow you to generate income for food while you develop your talent, consolidate your investment project or "build your dreams".
More specifically for itinerant ministries such as evangelists and preachers, knowing some trade gives you the freedom to preach the gospel, fulfill the commission without depending on others and without becoming burdensome as the Apostle Paul says in one of his writings.
This man assumed the commitment to preach the gospel and left all the government positions he held to commit himself to this call, the fact that he knew a trade (he made tents) allowed him to fulfill his mission in a dignified way since his trade allowed him to support himself while he traveled to different places preaching the gospel.
This week we had the opportunity to attend to a young preacher in our congregation, a young man who besides being a preacher is a Barber and with his trade supports his family while he travels preaching the gospel.
He arrived this week with his work tool in hand and where there is someone who needs a haircut he is ready to do the job and receive what is fair for the service he provides.
A tool in hand is more important than many of us realize, a tool in hand gives you the freedom to work in the trade you know while moving forward in building your dreams.
