In the stillness of an enchanted night, the moon hung low, almost touching the earth. The sky was alive with its silver glow, casting a magical aura over everything below. In the midst of this ethereal scene stood a woman, her hair gleaming like the moon itself, her face etched with the marks of time. By her side was her faithful companion, a small dog with fur as radiant as the moonlight.

Seated facing her big window, waiting in the glow of golden lamps and flickering candles, surrounded by a sea of roses in full bloom. Gust of winds drifting them around gently on the ground, like tiny pink snowflakes.

Each petal seemed to shimmer with its own inner light, creating an otherworldly carpet beneath their feet. A large clock laying on the floor, its hands ticking away the moments until midnight.

But the woman's gaze was fixed on the sky, where the moon hung low and large, so close it seemed to brush the rooftops. Her transparent curtain, allowing a perfect view of the celestial spectacle outside. So close it felt as if she could reach out and touch it.

It's silver reflection bathing the woman and her dog in a warm glow, and casting shadows that danced on the cobblestones beneath their feet. The sight filled her with awe and wonder, stirring memories deep within her soul.

Memories of times she would sit with her loved ones who she had lost In the ravaging war. Now all that was left was memories of times spent together and moments cherished.

She remembered how John, her husband, had asked that she wait for him by the moonligh on the same spot she sat, on the day he had gone to find food for them to eat but ended up being captured by the enemy soldiers.

On every moonlight she would wait to hear him knock, to hear him call out her name, to hear him come home. But now waiting feels like eternity and she couldn't wait any longer.

"Come on boy" she called to her dog. "It's bedtime".

Oh no! How sad...and now she waits by the moonlight every night to reminisce on the good times she shared with her husband. You capture the nostalgia very well. Nicely done.

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate 😊

Let's hope she's able to find food forherself.

Yeah, although she's old and feeble l, it wouldn't be easy for her.

This almost had me swooning with the sheer emotions in it. I can't fully describe but the sadness, the longing, the adept feeling of nostalgia , all poignant and sweet. This is beautifully written, well-done!

Thank you for the kind words. 😊

John captured by enemy soldiers and never returned home again to his wife. The wife lives with the memories of this sad day All her life. It's a death sentence!

Yeah it is.
But she has lived up till now. Maybe she'll survive.

Moonlit nights are for memories, good or bad but this sad and lonely woman remembers on this moonlit night how she lost her love, a pain she never got over.

Very hard to get over. And I hope one day she does. 😊

War tragedies, people never quite recover from it.

They never recover. It hunts you for life
