What is success?
This question has been haunting me since childhood. In fact, I still remember the day, when my beloved father told me about the parameters of success. I asked, ‘What is success?’ He replied, “Be a good man.” Then the long list of characteristics of a good man-be kind, be honest, be fair... Since then, I have carried his words like a compass. But reality is different BABA.
The world doesn’t work this way. Yes, the definition of a good man seems perfect as a theory, but practicality demands something else, something harsh, something which isn’t cute.
Being kind is treated as a weakness. Being honest? it led to isolation. And finally, being fair in this corrupted society, where power and money rules? I don’t want to be a pessimistic, but this is what I have learned from my personal experience.
They say, “Almonds make the mind strong, I say, “Experiences do.”
Life doesn’t always reward the good-hearted. Because life is nothing like the stories we were told in the childhood. So, why don’t cheat a little? Isn’t it the fastest way forward? And yet, Baba, as I stand at this crossroads, I have learned one more thing called ‘balance.’ It’s the only practical way to stay kind, honest and fair-without losing sight of reality. Being good and kind-hearted while protecting my well-being. Though, it is hard at first, but living with integrity in an imperfect world is the truest mean of a life well lived.
In the end, balance is not something you find at the marketplace, it is meant to be created.
