The Blockchain Poem Thread

Greetings, Blockchain Poets! This is a little idea to help spur a little more engagement. I've had the idea for a while. It was inspired by blockchain technology and how blocks are built. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll try to explain without getting too technical.

This is meant to be overly simple and not an actual explanation.

The blockchain saves data in chunks called blocks. It makes these blocks one at a time. After each block is made, the first thing it does is read that block and makes a short summary or assessment of it called a hash. The hash is the first piece of data in the next block. So each block has a piece of the previous block in it.

The Blockchain Poem

So as you might have guessed by now, I thought it might be fun for us to create a poem based on the same principle. Instead of a summary for a hash, we would use poetic interpretation or inspiration to continue the string. The end result is an epic blockchained poem forever containing pieces of all of us.

The Rules

  1. I will produce the first stanza to get things started.
  2. Subsequent stanzas will be submitted in a reply to this post
  3. Each stanza will be 4 lines long
  4. A single author can't write more than two consecutive stanzas in the same day.
  5. Each stanza must start with some aspect of the previous stanza or block in the first line. It can be a word, a concept, or line, or just about anything related to the previous block.
  6. (Optional) Tag one of your favorite authors to contribute a stanza

Genesis Block (1st stanza)

We the writers who bear our souls
Have come to tell and be verbose
Read the lines to find our pulse
And ponder on the words we chose

I'm going to tag some folks who I think might enjoy this challenge and help to kick things off. In accordance with rule 6, feel free to do the same.

And as that dawn erases night,
Bringing beauty into light,
The strength, united, of this chain
Will shine a beacon through the rain...

I did a google translate of the post above and got the gist of the verse, if not the literal meaning. The last line translated as "To build a great work, one that lasts when the dawn comes." Thus, I went with dawn to start my verse.....

Block 4

And so we reign in snow or rain
Whether the weather be fierce or plain
A motley band that cannot be banned
Not even the Sun could chain this chain

Let's start titling these with the block number. That way the next person could see where to pick up the chain. And @dagger212, that is perfect. Exactly how I wanted it to go down.

Block 5

Chain of chains, the champion's thread,
Lamp by the bed, late nights ahead -
one cannot conceal or contain
what rises in the baking bread.

Block 6

Nor shall they crush our rising spirit
Or pull apart entwining thoughts.
Our consciousness, combined collective,
Reveals the truths for which we've fought.

Block 7

"Fight impregnated with the acquired constancy,
Constant relationship of synchrony with a universe,
The one who plays to challenge our days,
To challenge them to make of our soul the more faithful convert."

"Lucha impregnada de la constancia adquirida,
Relación constante de sincronía con un universo,
Ese que juega a retar nuestros días,
Retarlos a hacer de nuestra alma el más fiel converso."

Invito a @eliezerfloyd a participar 😉🌹🙌
Tks for this invitation @moeknows!

Block 8

Manchmal zu einsam, dann wieder nicht;
Oft zu langweilig... häufig kein Ende in Sicht.
Jeder Mensch hat sie wohl schon erkannt:
eine Herausforderung, auch Tag genannt.

Sometimes too lonely, then again not;
Often too boring... often no end in sight.
Every person has probably already recognized it:
A challenge, also called day.

Great idea! Here's my stanza...
Blockchain is a many splendored thing,
It makes our words and wallets sing,
like the growth rings of the mighty oak, strong
it will hold our thoughts, long after we're gone

Bloque 14

Suave caricia que arrulla al cansado oído,

pinceles en mis dedos entrelazados.

Es el papel mi lienzo donde impregna su trino,

mi tórtolo corazón cuando se siente inspirado.

Te espero @lisfabian

Block 15

Because I bleed ink even when I write in pixels
I'm concerned more with the art than I am with the fiscal
I don't care how many pieces I re-word
I get the words right I don't write for rewards

Block 16

True artists are a rather strange group..
way too often, they even miss a warm soup.
Living in the streets; painting, dancing, singing.
on a generous hand, their bellies are clinging.

(Most likely my first 'published' stanza in English.. don't judge me too hard ✌️)

Ha! It's great. Much better than my German, or even my Spanish.

By the way @hamsterpoweriii, I remember that you and I once had a conversation about upvotes less than .02 being dust. I recently learned that @dustsweeper came out with the feature to clean up the dust left for others. Let me know if it works.

True. Sounds like good news regarding the sweeper; I will let you know if it worked :)

Worked like a charm :)

Block 13

What can I say?
Each wall carries it's own shadow,
The verse tiptoes with a dance,
The fingers entangle each line.

Great lines!

Block 10
While unleashing our thirst for release from mundane.
That our words, common fare, may yet somehow attain
Gravitas, immortality, ever ingrained
In the halls of the Hive, where our passion's inflamed.

Block 11
Let the passions remain like a fire kept
The Hive is alive with the wise and adept
And we're here to stay, we pray you accept
We built the chain while all the world slept

Nominating @d-pend to offer a block.

Wow. Qué honor!! Gracias por la invitación.

Mucho después de que nos vayamos
nuestros pensamientos seguirán vivos,
en cada bloque todos identificados,
nada se perderá,
la corriente fluirá
y nadie la podrá parar.

Block 12

Awake from your slumber, you poets who sleep
and offer a verse, sow what you reap
Write what you say, and say what you mean
Make the next block, it's number 13
