Exploring the Beauty of Budlaan-Sirao Trail

Good day, Hiveans!

If you've read my introductory blog, you probably know that I am now into hiking, just enjoying the beauty of lush mountains and their scenery and just making more memories with my hiker friends. In this blog, I'll be sharing my "Budlaan - Sirao Trail" hike with @mariasalve , @katiemeow , @kev.incredible , and Alton.

We hopped on a motorbike to reach the starting point of our hike. As we began walking, we were slightly worried because the soil was wet from the rain in the days leading up to that day. This indicated that there might be more water in the river, potentially making it deep, and it also meant that we couldn't follow the river trail for safety reasons. However, in the back of my mind, I was okay with not crossing the river as long as we could reach at least one waterfall so I could take a few pictures of it.

Despite the circumstances, we continued the hike following the other trail, which ran alongside the river. We could clearly hear the soothing sound of flowing water from where we were. When we reached the top of the river trail, we realized there wasn't much water in the river itself. We took a short rest and simply enjoyed the morning view. Moments later, we reached the waterfall I'd been eager to see. It was tall and pounded the rocks. Actually, there are other waterfalls prior along the river, but this is the only waterfall we got to pass by. That was the deepest waterfall I had seen so far in my hiking journey here in Cebu.

As we passed by that waterfall, we continued to struggle with the slippery trails, so we needed to be very cautious with every step we took. We found ourselves running out of water to drink, but thankfully, there was a 'tubod' or spring on the mountain where we could refill our water bottles. No worries, it was clean and clear, so it was safe to drink.

Finally, we made it to the road. Typically, I feel relieved every time we reach a road because it usually means we're almost done, and if not, at least we can pass by some stores or a 'carenderia' where we can eat and drink some cold drinks. But not this time, hahaha. As we continued hiking along the road, we passed by a 'carenderia' (that fast), but it was too early for lunch, so we decided to have our lunch at the next 'carenderia,' not realizing that we wouldn't find another, considering the heat of the sun, it added to our tiredness. We should have bought food to bring with us, so that if we got hungry, we could eat wherever we felt hungry. Lesson learned.

Kuya Alton, our friend and guide, told us that there's another elevated trail with a nice panoramic view where we could take pictures. So, we went to the mountain trail he recommended, and he was right! It had a beautiful view that we truly enjoyed. We snapped both solo pictures and group pictures, as we should, as it will serve as our memories that we can look back anytime we want.

After almost 14km hike under the scorching sun, we finally reached the bus station at Brgy. Guba and decided to have a full lunch when we got home. This hike was probably one of the best, with amazing views, especially during the river crossing part.

I would love to go for more river crossings next time and take a refreshing dip with friends while just enjoying chitchats and laughter in between.

Till my next blog, Hiveans!
