Camping at Que Peak, Tay Giang

in Pinmapple3 years ago

Hello everyone! How is everybody today?
What do you usually do on weekends? I usually choose for myself a picnic on the outskirts of the city or maybe go a little further. Because I only have 2 weekends, the places I choose must be suitable for that little time and convenient for fun and moving. Today I will share with you an amazing camping site that I had with my friends on the last day of 2020, which is Que Peak.

About 130km west of Da Nang city center, Peak Que is located in Voong village, Tr'hy commune, Tay Giang mountainous district of Quang Nam province. Que Peak is a place located on the top of the majestic Truong Son mountain, at an altitude of about 1369m above sea level, where has a fresh and cool 4-season climate due to being surrounded by mountains and forests. Anyone who loves backpacking like me can't miss this amazing place.

Because it is located at quite high coordinates and affected by the climate here, the road to Que Peak is often covered with fog, the more in the evening, the denser the layer of fog. It's not far from the city, but the road is mainly a winding hilly road, so it requires the driver to have a steady handlebar, and experience to ensure safety during travel.

Our team starts in Da Nang at 1:00 PM. Before departure, we gathered at one place, then went to the market together to prepare food for dinner and the next morning. Because the road is quite difficult and winding, we split into 2 distances to rest while traveling. Distance 1 is from Da Nang city to P'Rao town, about 80km, but it took about 2h30 minutes to move, we took advantage of filling up the fuel tank to prepare for the next distance. Distance 2 is from P'Rao town to Que Peak, about 51km, this road is a little easier to go. Total travel time takes about 4 hours. We started early, but when we started from the foot of the mountain to Que Peak, we still couldn't avoid the dense fog. We arrived here around 5:30 PM.

Because of the fog, it gets dark here very early. By the time we got here, we hadn't seen the sun anymore. Here, the temperature is lower at night, always below 20℃. It should be noted that those who come here for the first time must bring enough warm clothes to keep themselves from getting cold. Our trip was at the end of the year, so the temperature was around 13℃ at that time, we felt very interesting because we had a memorable experience.

Previously, there was a small grocery store here serving food and necessary food for visitors to visit when coming here, but after a storm in September 2020, this place had a landslide, so the grocery store was buried in the valley. So if you come here and want to stay, you have to prepare enough food yourself if you don't want to go hungry. In addition, there are still people here so you can order chicken from them, this chicken is raised by them in the garden so its meat is very delicious, unlike the industrial chicken dishes in the city.

As for the place to sleep, we chose to camp on the open ground right at the top. This place is quite spacious so you don't have to worry about where to plug it. About the tent, we brought our own because the camping equipment we all prepared to self-catering for all the trips. There is also a tent rental here for 150,000 VND / 1 tents, so if you don't have one, you don't need to worry if you want to camp. There is another choice if you do not want to camp outdoors, that is to sleep in small stilt houses built by people to serve overnight guests, with prices ranging from 70,000-100,000 VND/ 1 person. If you like to enjoy nature as I do, then it's okay to sleep in tents set up outdoors and breathe in the cool, fresh air that the noisy city does not have.

We started setting up our tents, and together we cooked for dinner using the prepared camping mini gas stove and the wood stove we had to find ourselves in the forest. The main dish for dinner is the chili dip beef, which is great in this cold weather. Besides, there are BBQ dishes, and this is the dish that we never lack for every camping trip. Because while grilling food, eating, sipping a few glasses of wine, chatting with close friends, immersing in the melodies of the lyrics coming from the Bluetooth speaker for a camping dinner, nothing is more interesting and wonderful, right?

The sky is full of stars at night

After a good night's sleep curled up in a warm blanket under the cold weather of just over 10 degrees, we woke up early to welcome the dawn. Here, if you are lucky, in the evening you will be able to see the starry sky because the top of the mountain is quite high, the feeling of looking up at the sky is quite close, if you are a paparazzi, you can take pictures of the sky. The night sky is amazing. In the early morning, you can hunt the sea of clouds here. Standing on the top of the mountain, looking far away at the clouds drifting between the valleys, breathing in the fresh, peaceful air. All create an extremely majestic and stunning scenery of the Truong Son mountains here. The sun began to rise from the mountains in the distance, the faint rays of the first rays of the day began to shine down, gradually melting the clouds that were interspersed between the valleys. And a new day begins.

We walked around the Que Peak area to visit and take souvenir photos and prepared breakfast for the whole team with instant noodles, a familiar dish of those who love to camping like us, and the Vietnamese as well. And indispensable a cup of hot coffee for a new day full of energy.

We packed everything up when it started to get sunnier and took advantage of taking pictures to save the wonderful moments among these majestic mountains, and then left Que Peak around 9:00 AM.

In addition, right in the center of Tay Giang district, on the way you pass, you can visit the conservation of traditional houses of the Co Tu ethnic group and Por'ning village, which many tourists know with each house is a unique nuance, and this place is considered as the cradle that preserves intact the unique culture of the Co Tu people in the west of Quang Nam.

Coming to Tay Giang, you will be attracted by the most rustic and idyllic things. Where there are no noisy things in the city, no noisy car horns. All the stress and worries of work and life gradually disappeared behind the white mist, immersed in the wild nature and cool blue sky, the gentle breeze swept away all the daily sorrows, and leave in your soul the most beautiful.
