Today, I have the pleasure of inviting you to discover, study, and learn a bit about the history of Cuba, specifically through various exhibits related to the armed struggles of past eras. You will discover a spectacular treasure, such as the pavilion for the Granma yacht memorial, as well as aircraft and cars related to the triumph.

Hoy tengo el placer de invitarlos a conocer, estudiar y aprender un poco de la historia de Cuba, en cuanto a diversas exhibiciones relacionadas con la lucha armada de épocas pasadas. Conocerán un tesoro espectacular como el pabellón para el memorial yate Granma, avionetas y autos relacionados con el triunfo.

The Museum of the Revolution is located in the former Presidential Palace, a majestic building that is a piece of Cuba's history. It is declared a National Monument, and its eclectic architecture with strong Neoclassical influences makes it stand out in Old Havana on Av. Bélgica between Colón and Refugio.
This sumptuous construction was completed in 1920 and served as the residence and office for several Cuban presidents before the Revolution, such as Batista.
El Museo de la Revolución se encuentra ubicado en el antiguo Palacio Presidencial, una edificación majestuosa, pieza de la historia de Cuba. Es declarado monumento nacional y su arquitectura ecléctico con fuerte influencia Neoclásica, lo hacen resaltar en la Habana Vieja en Av. Bélgica entre Colón y Refugio.
Esta suntuosa construcción fue terminada en 1920 y sirvió como residencia y despacho para varios presidentes de Cuba antes de la Revolución como Batista.
The facility is currently undergoing a major restoration process that has been ongoing for several years. The objective is to restore the heritage value of the spaces and incorporate new museographic trends into the exhibitions.
La instalación se presenta en un proceso de restauración capital desde hace varios años, con el objetivo de rescatar el valor patrimonial de los espacios e incluir las nuevas tendencias museográficas en las exposiciones.
As you can see, the building is immense and beautiful. Most of the museum was closed for renovations, but the outdoor section was open to the public for a cost of 50 Cuban pesos for locals and 200 pesos for tourists.
This open-air exhibition, located in the gardens, functions as a large military memorial and space for original historical pieces used during the Cuban Revolution.
Como pueden apreciar es inmenso y preciosa la edificación. La mayor parte del museo estaba cerrada por reformas, pero la sección exterior estaba disponible al público con un costo de 50 pesos cubanos y 200 pesos para el turista.
Esta exposición al aire libre ubicada en los jardines, funciona como un gran memorial militar y espacio de piezas históricas originales utilizadas durante la Revolución Cubana.
To begin the tour, we will start at the eternal flame to the heroes of the New Nation. It symbolizes the memory and tribute to those heroes, who raised the flags bequeathed by our Mambises and, at the new call of the bugle, rushed into battle for national independence and sovereignty.
In the glow of that Eternal Flame, the martyrs of the New Nation live and endure, with the voice of the people and the cry of Glory.
Para comenzar el recorrido empezaremos por la llama eterna a los héroes de la Patria Nueva, simboliza el recuerdo y homenaje a esos héroes, quienes enarbolaron las banderas que legaron nuestros mambises y, al nuevo reclamo del clarín, se lanzaron al combate por la independencia y soberanía nacional.
En el resplandor de esa Llama Eterna vive y perdura, con voz de pueblo y grito de Gloria los mártires de la Patria Nueva.
At the memorial, there are approximately 14 pieces belonging to the revolutionary struggle, positioned around the Granma yacht, which is centrally located directly in front of the palace. The Granma yacht is the vessel used by Fidel Castro and 81 other expedition members to travel from Mexico to Cuba and begin the guerrilla struggle against the government of Batista, who ruled the island at the time.
To starboard, there is a tractor equipped with a flamethrower, used by Camilo Cienfuegos during the siege of the Yaguajay barracks, known as "Dragón I".
En el memorial, hay alrededor de 14 piezas pertenecientes a la lucha revolucionaria que se ubican alrededor del yate Granma que está al centro, justo frente al palacio. El Yate Granma, embarcación utilizada por Fidel Castro y otros 81 expedicionarios para viajar desde México a Cuba e iniciar la lucha guerrillera contra el gobierno de Batista quien gobernaba la isla en ese entonces.
A estribor, hay un tractor con un lanzallamas, utilizado por Camilo Cienfuegos en el cerco al cuartel de Yaguajay, conocido como "Dragón I".
It also contains a tractor that was converted into an armored vehicle by combat workers from the 26th of July Movement, to be used by the "Ciro Redondo" column under the command of Ernesto Che Guevara in another of their revolutionary triumphs.
The Fargo Truck. Belonging to the firm Fast Delivery. It was used in the presidential palace assault on March 13, 1957, to transport some of the assailants. As you can observe, the bullet marks are still visible on the vehicle.
También contiene un tractor convertido a vehículo blindado por obreros combatientes del 26 de julio, para ser utilizado por la columna "Ciro Redondo" al mando del comandante Ernesto Che Guevara en otros de sus triunfos revolucionarios.
El Camión Fargo. Perteneciente a la firma Fast Delivery. Utilizado en el asalto presidencial el 13 de marzo de 1957 para trasladar una parte de los asaltantes. Como pueden observar están aún los restos de balas en el coche.
Behind the stern of the "Granma," there is a jeep that the rebels captured from Batista's army and which was used by Juan Almeida Bosque in the III Eastern Front, and another car, a Pontiac, used by the Popular Socialist Party (PSP) to transport weapons from Havana to Las Villas, earning it the nickname "ghost car."
Tras la popa del “Granma”, hay un jeep que los rebeldes capturaron al ejército de Batista y que utilizaba Juan Almeida Bosque en el III Frente Oriental y otro auto Pontiaccar mediante el cual el Partido Socialista Popular (PSP) trasladaba armas de La Habana a Las Villas, recibiendo el seudónimo de carro fantasma.
As you can observe, despite the vehicles' advanced age, they are maintained in good condition. It is essential to preserve with love and a sense of belonging the heritage treasures they hold, for the education of present and future generations, both Cuban and foreign.
Como pueden observar a pesar de los años de antigüedad de los vehículos, se mantienen en buen estado y mantenimiento. Es fundamental preservar con amor y sentido de pertenencia el tesoro patrimonial que poseen para la educación de las presentes y futuras generaciones, tanto cubano y extranjero.
This last one in the parking area is a Land Rover that Fidel Castro used in the final stage of the war. It also shows bullet impacts sustained during the Battle of Maffo in December 1958.
Este último del parqueo es una camioneta Land Rover que Fidel Castro usó en la etapa final de la guerra. Presenta también impactos de proyectiles ocasionados durante el combate de Maffo en diciembre de 1958.
Moving on to the aircraft section, the first Rebel Army King Fisher aircraft, of American manufacture, is on display. Its first combat action took place during the capture of the La Maya barracks in December 1958.
The next aircraft we find is the Seafire MK-11 fighter-bomber, of English manufacture, which was delivered to Fulgencio Batista and saw combat during the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Pasando a la parte de los aviones, se exhiben el primer avión king Fisher del Ejército Rebelde, de fabricación estadounidense, donde su primera acción combativa la realizó durante la toma del cuartel La Maya en diciembre de 1958.
El siguiente avión que encontramos es el cazabombardero Seafiury MK-11 noplaza de fabricación inglesa, entregado a Fulgencio Batista y participado en acciones combativas en Playa Girón.
To port, the T-34 tank is located, one of those used by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro during the Bay of Pigs invasion. From this tank, he fired upon the "Houston," one of the mercenary ships providing cover for the enemy forces.
From the T-34, which was making its way through the sea grape trees, Fidel jumped out and boarded another armored vehicle, a self-propelled SAU-100 gun (located outside the Museum of the Revolution). Equipped with a 100-millimeter artillery piece, it fired the projectile that struck the American vessel.
There is also a pirate boat that the invaders used to transport weapons and up to 12 men from the ships to the shores of Girón.
A babor, se ubica el tanque T-34, uno de los utilizados por el Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro durante la invasión a Playa Girón y desde el cual le disparó al buque “Houston” una de las naves mercenarias que brindó cobertura a las fuerzas enemigas.
Del T-34, que se abría paso entre los árboles de uvas caleta, Fidel saltó y subió a otro blindado, un cañón autopropulsado SAU-100 (emplazado en las afueras del Museo de la Revolución), dotado de una pieza artillera de cien milímetros que espetó el proyectil que impactó en la embarcación norteamericana.
Hay también una lancha pirata que los invasores emplearon para trasladar armas y hasta 12 hombres desde los buques hasta las costas de Girón.
Arriving at the final part of this interesting tour, the wreckage of a B-26 bomber with American registration, shot down south of Matanzas in that April of 1961, is exhibited. All the signage provides information about the displayed pieces, offering readable and important details for the visitor.
Llegando a la par te final de este interesante recorrido, se expone los restos de un bombardero B-26 de matrícula norteamericana, derribado al sur de Matanzas aquel abril de 1961. En todos los carteles se dan información de las piezas expuestas legibles y con datos importantes al visitante.
Behind the eternal flame is the launch ramp from which one of the rockets was fired that shot down the American U-2 spy plane, which was violating Cuban airspace on October 27, 1962, during the October Crisis. Right beside it are the wreckage of the downed aircraft.
Tras la llama eterna, está la rampa de lanzamiento desde donde fue disparado uno de los cohetes que derribó al avión norteamericano U-2, que violaba el espacio aéreo cubano el 27 de octubre de 1962 durante la Crisis de Octubre. Justo al lado, hay restos de la aeronave derribada.
That's all for today, travelers. Although part of the museum is under restoration, the outdoor area completely captured my attention with its objects that were instrumental in this great revolutionary achievement. The Museum of the Revolution is a place that houses history and is a must-visit if you want to learn about the events that took place in Cuba.
