Hey guys,

two weeks ago I told you about my friend Brittas' project to support women in need in South Africa. I also told you to help out and donate directly or show some love to the post and you did! Thank you very much for that!! - Britta is so happy and thankful as well!!

In case you totally missed what I am talking about:

My friend Britta is part of a hiking group called: The Wanderers, where she lives in Cape Town, and managed with them, that they would take a hike to create awareness for the topic of breast cancer on the 10th of April.

Of course last week I promised to tell you all about it! - And here I am sharing all I got ;)

So they in fact climbed the mountain called God's Window in Muizenberg together with a bunch of women, dressed up and wrapped in pink and glitter 👙.

Already the day before they were packing all the important things in the van. Some of the participants had to be up by 4am to make it on time, while others were out on the razzle and only had 2 hours sleep before the hike started!

Then they met at the starting point to receive all the participants (more than 40 ladies!)at the improvised reception.

Britta told me (and I hope I get it right):
If you are a woman with this kind of diagnosis in South Africa, and you come to Flamingo Project for help, you usually get a care package to feel better (it includes body lotion, hand sanitizer, etc. and usually costs around R100). So the wanderers ordered some of these packages and pimped them up, with things, they think these ladies could also use before they started the hike! (heads, scarfs, nail polish etc.)

And after that, they did what they love the most. Climb up the mountain, have fun, and all of that for a good cause!!

The hike to the top of God's Window is an easy one that only takes about 1hour. So they went up pretty fast to be there in time for the sunrise.

Of course, they also took good cameras with them to be able to share the adventure with more people and raise more awareness for the topic!

Here you have some of the best shots from the top:

Of course, they got the best shots once the sunrise startet, the scenery was just perfect to take beautiful pictures:

But what is much more important:

They want to support the so-called Flamingo Project in Cape Town and provide funds for women who cannot afford examination or treatment!!

Their goal still is R100,000 - that's just about EUR 6,000. With this, they could finance vital surgery for 25 women.

Until now, they managed to raise already about R 65000, which equals about 3800EUR.

Wow what a coincidence! Britta is actually on my Ladies Trail Running group that we just started a month ago but I have not yet met her. Their hike up the mountain was posted all over our South African Facebook groups and is definitely getting attention. Thanks for helping them to meet their goal. It’s such an important topic.

Really?? That is really nice! Say hi to her from me when you meet her! - It is a pleasure for me to help her out on that topic! She is a very good friend of mine :)

I’ll do that! Small world!

Beautiful! I haven't been to SA but being on the other side of the Pacific and watching our images I can imagine the whole scenario. Incidentally, I m a member of various walking groups with each having its own name and some of these groups are for charity walking. A nice job mate!
