Visiting the Frozen Changu Lake - Sikkim, India

in Pinmapplelast year

Hello readers,

In one of my recent posts, I had talked about my honeymoon trip to the Sikkim State along with a couple if photos from the journey. Stretching that story a bit more, today I will be sharing some more photos from the beautiful trip with you all. In my last post, I shared pictures of the 2 very famous temples, the Buddha Park and Char Dham (Shiva Temple) and both of them are among the top places to visit if you ever travel to this magnificent and mountain full State and believe me, you cant stare away from the beauty even after opening an hour in there.

However, those 2 sites are not the only places that we visited. We had a long list of must watch places in Sikkim but having only 5 days in our hand, we had to skip the northern and western part of the State. We travelled there in January this year with a big hope in our heart to see snowfall. We live far from the mountains and never had a chance to experience snowfall in our lives. So it was our first priority and we even researched well and find out that snowfall generally starts from late December to early January. But very unlikely, this year the snowfall didn't happen in time and with thousands of other heartbroken tourists, we also came back he without seeing even a little snowfall with our eyes.

However, thou we were with a ruined mood, we did find some snow while travelling to East Sikkim. That day we went to see the famous Tsongmo Lake, Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir and Nathula pass and spent the whole day just to see these 3 sites as they are remote from each other. At above, I shared some photos from the Tsongmo Lake and as you can see, thou the Lake was almost frozen, there adjacent mountains and the roads are completely snow free. However, the fresh air and the clear weather with a bright sun made the scenery very photogenic. As for side activities, There were Yak rides and Ropeway available but the boat rising was closed as the Lake was all icy.

Later that day, we also visited the Nathula Pass, which is the border area of India and China and also went to see the Baba temple which is Shrine of a martyr Indian army who once saved this outpost alone from Chinese intrusion and gave life during the fight. As you can see from the photos above, there were hardly any vegetation there as we are almost 15,000 feet above the sea level. It was all rocky mountains with almost no inhabitants or houses, only concrete roads piercing the mountains and either army or tourist vehicles passing by. But, the beauty of these 2 places were so good, specially for those who loves mountains. Its really hard to explain but you can get a feel by the photos that I shared above.

I hope you liked the photos that I shared above. Are you a mountain guy or a sea lover? Let me know in the comment below and I will be seeing you all in my next post.

Haha.. he was indeed stealing the show there!

With hair like that, how could he not? lol

Yea I love how they decorate their cows in that part of the world.

We have a similar thing in one part of Croatia, but they decorate their bulls and only during some festivals.

Something like this:

Looking so pretty with the decoration and so humbleness in it’s eyes☺️. Thanks for sharing ❤️
