Copper Falls State Park

in Pinmapple4 years ago

The Bad River flows across Ashland County in northern Wisconsin to Lake Superior and is also the name of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of the Chippewa.

0ne of the trails through Copper Falls State Park in northeastern Wisconsin is named for the Doughboys who were the first to build trails and bridges through the park when they returned from WW1. Further work was done on the Doughboy Trail in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

I have hiked those trails to get back to the falls each summer for most of my life and had been avoiding visiting there because I knew I was no longer able to do the hiking and climbing that the trails required.

I was quite pleased during my most recent visit to find handicap trails that allowed me to go quite a distance along the tiver and enjoy much of it's beauty.

Bang, I did it again... I just rehived your post!
Week 16 of my contest just started...you can now check the winners of the previous week!

Thanks, Pix! Thanks for the delegation share! It's always fun to see that arrive in my wallet.
!BEER

And now it's finally automated... no more manual transfer for my human 🤪
Although it's always fun to send out prizes, with 13 delegators it began to be a lot of work...

Anyway, seems people are happy with their Archons. Never got so many "thank you's" after publishing the results of the contest...

Bravo on your new bot! You are good at this stuff!
You should always be getting thank you's and I'm sorry that people don't get that! You picked an engaged, polite group of winners this week. I think Archon is going to be a good token to have!

Hey @pixresteemer, here is a little bit of BEER from @melinda010100 for you. Enjoy it!

Nice photos. Those are some pretty woaterfalls. It's nice that they added trails to make it easier to access them for more people and I'm glad they didn't put bridges over or in front of the falls. They've done that in Mankato and it limits the photography.

They sort of remind me of being a kid and visiting my grandparents up in Bessemer, MI. There are some beautiful waterfalls near Black River Harbor.

I can see why they would remind you of Bessemer! Your grandparents were just up the road from the Bad River Reservation on Highway 2 and I'm sure all the rock formations are that same red stone.

I love the green of this picture. I love to have a lake close to home

Being out in nature is a wonderful thing for all of us!

Yes. I love the nature 💕

It's so nice that they've added all inclusive trails to cater for everyone, it must be lovely to return over the years and see how things have changed, or not hopefully.

I was quite thrilled to have access to familiar sights that I love, that I had feared that I would never see again. So many places are going the extra mile to nature more accessible for everyone.

Reminded me of a movie in the '90's. It starred Kevin Bacon and Meryll Streep. The title was "The River Wild". It had a lot of white-river rafting on a river just like the one you have in these photos. Glad you were able to revisit this place.

Thank you! I appreciate it very much! ❤️

That's wonderful that they have made some of the trails accessible. What a nice surprise !

It was really great to find that there. I've been finding that more and more lately even when I went to Chicago there was a boardwalk that I could use with my scooter that took me right down to the waves of Lake Michigan. Accessibility is so important for so many people.

Wow what a beautiful place ❤ @melinda010100! :-)
Very lovely photographs! Heck of a cascading falls and rock face!
Lots of different sized stones, really like the old stump and
boulders together! Nice to hear they made easier paths
to see more of that beauty!

Thanks! That region is my favorite part of the state and being out there again brought me so much joy!

Simply gorgeous Melinda, what a wonderful area!

It is an incredible place with some amazing energy!

Scenes like that make me want to travel!

I hope people can begin traveling safely again.

I think we are almost back to that point aren't we? I mean, flying on an airplane doesn't sound very appealing but a car trip sounds good.

People from Wisconsin are not allowed to drive into Chicago and if Chicago residents drive into WI the have to self quarantine or face huge fines. It's going to be a while before there are road trips here I think.

Holy smokes Melinda, that sounds pretty bad. But hey, your comment was a ridiculous 9 days ago so things may have already gotten better. Sorry for the unbelievably late reply, I had no idea it was this long.

I've heard from reliable sources that a weaponized virus attack is going to be launched soon on the U.S. so get stocked up. You probably already are though. But warn the kids that it's a strong possibility and soon.
