While it is all fun and games for most people on this "work" trip, I took part in the first session of a SaaS sales methodology course, which was actually pretty good - considering I am not a sales person. I am in Sales Enablement however, which means my role is to help our account executives develop and refine their skills in order to improve their results, so knowing the sales processes they use is important. It was interesting - but it is a post for another time, when I have more time.
We have a "live in chef" (one of the sales executive's partner) and it is my shift to help prep for dinner tonight, along with a few others. It is actually really nice in the way this has been set up, as there is no formal agenda, but there are lots of connection points for people to interact in ways they normally wouldn't.
For example, on the slopes. I didn't ski today, but tomorrow I will take a lesson with a few other "non-Nordic" people who can't ski either. The last time I actually tried to ski was 28 years ago - so I will give it a go and if it doesn't feel good, I will rent a snowboard, because I do have some experience and and the last time was only 15 years ago - so I should be twice as good than on skis.
We did however go up in the gondola to near the top. A journey that took us about 15 minutes moving straight up. Coming down it is about a 6 kilometer run and according to colleagues and despite the lack of snow to the sides, the dressed slopes are in great condition.
The reason I wanted to go up "ski-less" is so I could take some photos and show what it looks like at a great ski resort, sans most of the snow and most of the people. This is midweek and at the tail-end of the season, so there is hardly anyone around, making it far more enjoyable in many ways. The areas between the runs is filled with some very fancy cottages and it looks like there are many more being built - suffice to say, I can't afford one of these and most Norwegians can't either, even with all that oil money.
So, unlike most posts I do... here is a photo dump :)

What did you think - Nice views?
Finland is so flat that I miss seeing mountains and all of the "layers" within the landscape. Hopefully tomorrow after the lesson, I will get a chance to get back up there for some more photos, but the gondola closes quite early, so catching the sunset is unfortunately impossible - unless I walk the 6 kilometers up the black run... I am not that sporty.
I am late - my kitchen shift is starting!!

Some nice views. I often wonder why people like being in the country, yet living so close together they may as well be in a city. Enjoy the dinner.
I think they are only here for a few weeks, but there is a lifestyle to it. Neighbours and after ski life.
They have a lot of those condo style places at a lot of the ski resorts in America also, Just not a life style I could get used to, but it keeps those that enjoy it happy.
This feels so mythological to me XD (for both of us XP)
It's kinda funny as it's so technically easy to get more time but actually really difficult as outsiders looking in ("outsiders" being everyone that isn't you) would say "oh just stop/cut down [this thing that you're doing]" because that would free up so much time, and then are all aghast because you don't want to stop [this thing you're doing], you actually want to stop [this other thing you're doing which you don't value but which they value immensely and simply cannot understand why you refuse to acknowledge the "fact" that it's infinitely more important than any of the trivial nonsense you're interested in could ever hope to be] so you have more time for [this thing you're doing].
Those cottage neighbourhoods look like they might temporarily flood while the snow is melting x_x
Have fun on the skis and the snowboards and try not to have any altercations with rocks, trees, or long drops, they almost always win ;D
"Value" and values are used to make judgements, but are often seen as global values - as if everyone has and should have the same belief system. I get the sense that despite the "common sense" of some things, there is nothing that is universally valued or valueless - there are always outliers. we might have a lot of overlap in many areas, but none are identical.
I waste a lot of my time on things that people don't value, but mean something to me :)
I haven't been up close yet, but I assume they have some trenches at the back that run it down the slope.
Survived Covid - killed by tree.
LoL XD
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
I have never been on skis but I bet it would be a real adventure. Yes, those views are exceptional. We grow as people when we see things from different perspectives. The elevation and skis allows that. If only we could apply that to life.
It has been a very interesting trip and I have learned a lot from people I didn't know before.
I have never been to a ski resort. And although I'd like to visit one someday. I'm not sure I'd dare to ride a pair of skis at this point, LOL. Have fun!
And also have fun in the kitchen! :)
Tomorrow I will try to ski... Let's see if u survive.
You will!! ⛷⛷ Good luck and take care.
Am sure you are enjoying your work trip as it also gives you the opportunity to do what you enjoyed doing which is photography although you said you miss seeing mountains and all of the "layers" but it part of exploration. In tomorrow post will you add the pictures of the meals you guys prepared and a post on ski?
I will take my phone skiing at least! Hopefully that will do for pics.
I love skiing so much, but I use sticks because I'm afraid to fall, be careful about your knees.
it's very entertaining destination, have nice moments
Do you downhill or cross-country?
Cross country
It looks so serene and beautiful.
At the top, it really was breathtaking.
beautiful snow scenes, I can't miss skiing and playing roller coaster, this is the first thing that I do it after travel.
You like roller coasters?
Yes it's very exciting and you?
Some photos are more than qualified to be 'dumped' here. I especially enjoy the one of the snowy landscape
It is a beautiful place. I might come back with the family.
Won't be a bad idea at all
I love this snap, the view inside the cable car must have been so nice.
It was nice - though it was pretty high in some places. I don't like heights.
Some of these photos could pass as wallpapers, no joke haha. You just nailed it with these clicks. 🥃
When were you there?
I was expecting more, but it is warm, even despite the elevation.
