Welcome to Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
If you remember this post π Seafield Beach in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland π I took you on a walk along the Fife Coastal Sea Path to Seafield Tower.
At the end of that post I said we would explore the ruined castle that was at the end of Seafield beach in a future post.
Well that time is now!
A couple of weeks ago, in what feels like was the last throws of summer 2022, I managed to get out and explore the tower.
Our destination ~ Seafield Tower
If you did not read the previous post, then you may well have guessed by the name Seafield that we are in a field by the sea! Woot woot give yourself a pat on your back, you are clever after all, but then again we knew that already beacuse you are on Hive!
I was aiming to reach Seafield Tower, walking from Kirkcaldy in Fife, Scotland and that was me turning round to show you where we have come from.
Right let's get back onto the path and look where we are going! What do you think? Can we see the castle in the distance?
Yes there it is. Let's get a bit closer before we find out more about the Tower.
Instead of looking up into the sun, let's gather some fun facts for you!

Location Seafield Tower lies between Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy in Fife, Scotland
Location Coordinates 56.08295Β°N 3.16011Β°W
Built in 1542 by John Moultray
Materials of construction Sandstone
Is is almost 500 years old!
Now just Imagine if you were almost 500, you would be falling apart as well!
Let's go take a look inside!
Can you see how thick the walls are?
Yeah fluffing thick the walls are!
Seafield Tower Fun Facts
source for all Fun Facts in this post Seafield Tower From Wikipedia
The completed tower was believed to be five stories high with walls 5 feet (1.5 m) thick and maximum internal dimensions of 20 feet 2 inches (6.1 m) by 14 feet 4 inches (4.4 m). It was constructed in an 'L' shape configuration using local red sandstone.
Yes that wall is five foot thick, that is the height of a wee lassie!
I think that window would be on the second or third floor. Or do you say story?
Floor or story, which do you say? I might drop a wee tip for the engagers in the comments...
Talking about windows and views, how about this for a view from your living room?
Let's have a look around the outside.
How kind of someone to leave us a bench to have a wee sit down and have a breather and get our breath back!
You thought I was joking, didn't you!
However, whilst you are sitting on the bench getting your breath, have a look out over the water, if you know name of the peak then drop me a comment and yes another wee tip might wing its way to you...
Right then, I will be back once I take a walk around the tower.
So put your feet up!
Did you see the yellow sign in the grass in that last picture?
This was a bit late to see!
So that was Seafield Tower, now remember the view from the living room window, well I deliberately did not show you something.
In the picture above to the right there is a colony, can you guess what of?
SEALS, yes it is our local seal colony.
Right, well I will do a proper post of the seal colony another day, but home was calling.
Shall we go home quickly?
When there is wind like there was, this yacht made quick work of crossing over the water.
What do you think the last inhabitants would make of another part of their view?
I hope that you enjoyed my summer stroll in and around Seafield Tower in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland.

ππ
Love a good ole castle, plus seaview and seals as an added bonus!! Great day out!!
Thanks @livinguktaiwan considering it is only twenty minutes walk away or so, I should really go there more oftenπ€£
What's the reason that the castle wasn't built on that hill on the other side?
On the other side of water?
This one:
well that is quite far away, and 500 years ago was owned by totally different landowners.
Fantastic views from Seafield Tower there, and very interesting to hear about it's history, and as to the peak, the only thing I could find in the line of sight from the tower was called The Law, thanks for sharing and stay !ALIVE
They are great views and I like that you mentioned The Law, I will reveal the answer tomorrow :)
thank you for commenting
!ALIVE
Love the view from the window Ed.. And those sailing boats π
Yes the sailboats are cool Jane, I can usually see one every day I go looking, although with colder weather maybe they will be rarer!
Hello hello, Super Ed!!!
I loved the ride and I sure would have sat on that bench to catch my breath too jaja
I would like that view in my living room of course. And I always say floor and not story ;)
And well, while sited on the bench I could see the peak .... jeje I don't know, some in a comment said The Law, that's it? β οΈβ οΈπ
Good morning when you wake up :)
Good afternoon Super Eli!
jeje am glad you say floor!
Ah yes The Law, well we shall see tomorrow, perhaps I don't know the name!
Oh my gosh π€£π€£π€£ you are so mad ππ
You win the crown today, no doubt about

Nice post with nice photos. I liked that bench to sit on and take a breath. Indeed, from that bench you have a beautiful view and it seems very pleasant to sit there and look at the horizon
Thank you it is a great bench to sit at, sometimes I take my lunch and eat it there:)
it seems to me a great way to relax a bit or to stop and think about life for a while
A perfect place to ponder life Stefano!
Have a fantastic weekend :)

Very nice photo essay... I almost feel as if I explored the tower with you.π
πππ
Thank you so much, that is the idea, I love to read these sort of photo essays π
Beautiful photos, specially ruined castle.
I will surely ignore the warning sign even if I see it for a chance to view the castle up close. π
!1UP
hehe yes the sign is a bit pointless if you come from the beach side like I did!
thanks for the curation :)

Thanks for taking me on a virtual tour of the seafield tower, haha! You saw that yellow warning sign after going in and out? Scared me! Thank God you had a safe tour.
#dreemport
Yes I have been there before so I know it is safe really :) Thanks for visiting!
Wow.. thanks for remembering to bring us an exploration of the ruined castle. π
Do you think I'll be able to live up to 500 years before falling apart too? π
hehe you will be even more remarkable if you become 500 :)
I'd love to head over to Scotland and see some of the old forts and towers, we have a fair few over here in Ireland, but I think you lads have more impressive ones.
Also, floor or story, hard to say, I use either, as for the mountain, I've no idea, even tried looking it up on google and couldn't find it, but, I'll take a wild guess... is it Wee Fuji?

hehe welcome back Steve :)
Nice post on the tower - looks pretty interesting ! I liked the pics showing the chimney structure and also the post holes for the floors - pretty cool. And I'm lookin forward to hearing about the seal colony !
!PIZZA
!ALIVE
It is fascinating when you think of the age, and of course you know how thick the walls are of these structures. The chimney structure does look amazing and solid too!
The seals, yes I need to go back with the tripod and take some decent pics for next time:)

Fabulous ride, loved all the photos. The colony of seals is great, I wish I could see some near the beach here, but I doubt they will get that far, to the Caribbean. The place is really very old and surely an adventure, it is wonderful.
Thank you brother, it is great to see history, and yes the seals are fun and a great excuse to go for a walk:)
Beautiful photos!
Thank you very much
Did castles have storeys or floors? Never come across a multi-storey cart park? Iβm going to say theyβre floors.
Castles are the best things. I used to build them out of cardboard boxes as a kid complete with drawbridge and all that. Weβd hide in them and wait for mum or dad to go by and pounce.
aha
I did the same, do kids do that now I wonder!
Some do but then itβs down to the parents and how much they encourage children to be creative.
ah yes, that makes sense!
I love castles and the history they remind us of... but I also imagine they must have been fluffing cold!!!
Huh?
Shooo... imagine those great halls and high ceilings... and all that stone... in a winter up North.
I wouldn't take being a lord or a lady for that kind of cold. No thanks! (also - having to attend all those political social events and the expected schmoozing). I'd have accidentally started a feud or something for sure. Especially if I was cold and grumpy.
The landscape is really gorgeous, btw. I've heard how beautiful Scotland is. Nice to see more of it.
