Where can you find the best view to photograph the Seattle skyline? This question was already on my mind before my trip. After some research, I found two particularly interesting places with very different, fascinating perspectives of the largest city in the state of Washington. I would like to introduce you to these two vantage points today and tell you about my walk through the international quarter (Chinatown) afterwards.
Wo findet man die beste Aussicht ,um die Skyline von Seattle zu fotografieren? Diese Frage beschäftigte mich bereits vor meiner Reise. Nach einiger Recherche fand ich zwei besonders interessante Orte mit ganz unterschiedlichen, faszinierenden Perspektiven auf die größte Stadt des Bundesstaates Washington. Diese beiden Aussichtspunkte möchte ich euch heute vorstellen und euch anschließend von meinem Spaziergang durch das internationale Viertel (Chinatown) berichten.
Early in the morning at 06:30 I left my accommodation and made my way to Kerry Park. This small park offers a classic postcard view of the downtown Seattle skyline with the Space Needle in the foreground. In good weather, you can also see the imposing Mount Rainier in the background. However, this was denied me on this morning. Dense clouds, which only slowly cleared, dominated the sky. Nevertheless, the view was phenomenal and due to the morning hours, there was no crowd and I could focus on my photography without being disturbed.
Bereits früh morgens um 06:30 Uhr verließ ich meine Unterkunft und machte mich auf den Weg zum Kerry Park. Dieser kleine Park bietet eine klassische Postkarten-Ansicht auf die Skyline von Downtown Seattle mit der Space Needle im Vordergrund. Bei gutem Wetter kann man auch den imposanten Mount Rainier im Hintergrund erkennen. Dies blieb mir an diesem morgen jedoch verwehrt. Dichte Wolken, die nur langsam auflockerten, dominierten den Himmel. Die Aussicht war aber trotzdem phänomenal und aufgrund der morgendlichen Stunden herrschte kein Gedränge und ich konnte mich in Ruhe der Fotografie widmen.
I spent almost two hours at this viewpoint and was annoyed that I didn't have a longer focal length than 85mm with me. If you have a lens with a 200mm or longer focal length, make sure you take it with you. It makes for some fascinating shots of the Space Needle. By the time I ran out of creative photo ideas, the sky was only slightly cloudy and I headed to the next photo spot full of anticipation.
Fast zwei Stunden verbrachte ich an diesem Aussichtspunkt und ärgerte mich, dass ich keine längere Brennweite als 85mm dabeihatte. Falls ihr ein Objektiv mit 200mm oder noch längerer Brennweite besitzt, nehmt es unbedingt mit. Damit lassen sich faszinierenden Aufnahmen der Space Needle erzielen. Als mir die kreativen Fotoideen langsam ausgingen, war der Himmel nur noch leicht bewölkt und ich machte mich voller Vorfreude auf den Weg zum nächsten Fotospot.
Unfortunately, the beautiful weather did not last too long. When I arrived at the next viewpoint, the sky was again completely covered by clouds. The Jose Razal Bridge and the park of the same name are far less well-known and popular than Kerry Park. Nevertheless, this spot south of downtown offers really impressive views of Seattle's skyscrapers. Here you can also find a hole in a fence that can be wonderfully used as a frame and thus get a great picture composition. In the evening, you could also shoot the sunset here and experiment with long exposure times.
Leider hielt das schöne Wetter nicht allzu lange an. Als ich beim nächsten Aussichtspunkt ankam, war der Himmel wieder gänzlich von Wolken bedeckt. Die Jose Razal Brücke und der gleichnamige Park sind weitaus weniger bekannt und beliebt, als der Kerry Park. Trotzdem bietet dieser Spot südlich der Innenstadt wirklich beeindruckende Ausblicke auf die Wolkenkratzer von Seattle. Hier findet man auch ein Loch in einem Zaun, das man wunderbar als Rahmen nutzen kann und somit eine tolle Bildkomposition erhält. Abend könnte man hier auch wunderbar den Sonnenuntergang ablichten und mit langen Belichtungszeiten experimentieren.
If you walk north along the Jose Razal Bridge, you will reach the international quarter in just a few minutes. This is a unique neighbourhood in the south of downtown Seattle, known for its multicultural atmosphere and vibrant diversity. Here, people from diverse backgrounds, including Asian, African and Latino communities, come together to create a unique blend of cultures, tastes and traditions. The International District, also known as Chinatown-International District, is famous for its exquisite restaurants serving authentic Asian cuisine, as well as its vibrant markets and cultural festivals. The district is also historically significant as it played an important role in the history of Chinese immigration to the US. I really liked the friendly and peaceful atmosphere in Seattle's Chinatown.
Wenn man die Jose Razal Brücke in Richtung Norden spaziert gelangt man nach wenigen Gehminuten direkt zum internationalen Viertel. Es handelt sich dabei um einen einzigariten Stadtteil im Süden der Innenstadt von Seattle, der für seine multikulturelle Atmosphäre und lebendige Vielfalt bekannt ist. Hier treffen Menschen unterschiedlicher Herkunft, darunter asiatische, afrikanische und lateinamerikanische Gemeinschaften, aufeinander und schaffen eine einzigartige Mischung aus Kulturen, Geschmäckern und Traditionen. Das International District, auch bekannt als Chinatown-International District, ist berühmt für seine exquisiten Restaurants, die authentische asiatische Küche anbieten, sowie für seine lebhaften Märkte und kulturellen Festivals. Das Distrikt ist auch von historischer Bedeutung, da es eine wichtige Rolle in der Geschichte der chinesischen Einwanderung in die USA spielte. Mir gefiel die freundliche und friedliche Atmosphäre in Seattles Chinatown sehr gut.
So another exciting exploration tour in the Emerald City ended for me. I had already seen many highlights of Seattle, but there was still a lot to discover. In the next post, I will tell you among other things about a strange troll statue and a park on a former factory site.
So endete eine weitere, spannende Erkundungstour in der Emerald City für mich. Viele Highlights von Seattle hatte ich somit bereits gesehen, doch noch immer gab es sehr viel zu entdecken.
