Hello friends! Have you ever visited a place that is not on an island but can only be reached on foot or by boat? Exactly such a place can be found in the state of Jalisco, on Mexico's west coast, and my girlfriend and I visited it. In this article you can read about the adventures we experienced there.
Hallo Freunde! Habt ihr schon einmal einen Ort besucht, der nicht auf einer Insel liegt, aber nur zu Fuß oder per Boot erreicht werden kann? Genau so ein Ort befindet sich im Bundesstaat Jalisco, an der mexikanischen Westküste und meine Freundin und ich haben ihn besucht. In diesem Beitrag erfahrt ihr, welche Abenteuer wir dort erlebt haben.
The journey from Puerto Vallarta was already adventurous. We decided to take a taxi boat, which is also the only way to reach Yelapa if you don't want to hike for hours. The price for the round trip was a fair 400 pesos (20€/$). However, the ride itself was not very pleasant. About 40 people sat close to each other on wooden benches in a very small fishing boat and instead of the announced 45 minutes, the trip took an hour and 15 minutes. Despite the many beautiful views along the way, we were glad when we finally arrived.
Abenteuerlich war bereits die Anreise von Puerto Vallarta. Wir entschieden uns für ein Taxi-Boot, das auch die einzige Möglichkeit darstellt, Yelapa zu erreichen, wenn man nicht stundenlang wandern möchte. Der Preis für die Hin- und Rückfahrt betrug faire 400 Pesos (20€/$). Die Fahrt an sich war jedoch nicht gerade angenehm. Ungefähr 40 Personen saßen in einem sehr kleinen Fischerboot auf Holzbänken dicht aneinandergedrängt und statt der angegebenen 45 Minuten, dauerte die Fahrt eine Stunde und 15 Minuten. Trotz der vielen schönen Ausblicke unterwegs, waren wir froh, als wir endlich ankamen.
However, the view of the beautiful beach of Yelapa, after leaving the boat, compensated us for the effort. Here you almost feel like you are on a lonely island, far away from civilisation. We made ourselves comfortable on the beach, had a meal and enjoyed the paradisiacal atmosphere before things got adventurous again and we started the hike to the actual village of Yelapa.
Der Anblick des traumhaften Strandes von Yelapa, nach dem Verlassen des Bootes, entschädigte uns jedoch für die Strapazen. Hier fühlt man sich fast, wie auf einer einsamen Insel, fernab der Zivilisation. Wir machten es uns am Strand gemütlich, nahmen eine Mahlzeit ein und genossen die paradiesische Atmosphäre, bevor es erneut abenteuerlich wurde und wir die Wanderung zum eigentlichen Dorf Yelapa starteten.
Actually, everything looked like an easy walk along the beach, but very soon we were faced with the first obstacle. To get to the village, we had to cross a river that flowed into the sea there. Fortunately, it was the dry season, otherwise this would have been impossible. But so we marched carefully through the waist-high water and arrived safely on the other bank. But the next challenge wasn't far away. A rock formation blocked the way. We had the choice of either climbing or turning back. You can probably imagine what we chose. In the end, we crossed another small stream before finally arriving in the pretty village with its winding alleys.
Eigentlich sah alles nach einem einfachen Spaziergang entlang des Strandes aus, doch sehr bald stießen wir auf das erste Hindernis. Um zum Dorf zu gelangen, mussten wir einen Fluss durchqueren, der hier ins Meer mündete. Zum Glück herrschte gerade Trockenzeit, ansonsten wäre dies unmöglich gewesen. Aber so marschierten wir vorsichtig durch das hüfthohe Wasser und kamen sicher am anderen Ufer an. Doch die nächste Herausforderung ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Eine Felsformation blockierte den Weg. Wir hatten die Wahl, entweder klettern oder umkehren. Ihr könnt euch wahrscheinlich vorstellen, für was wir uns entschieden. Am Ende durchquerten wir noch einen weiteren kleinen Bach, bevor wir endlich in dem hübschen Dörflein mit seinen verwinkelten Gassen ankamen.
There really wasn't much to discover in the village, but the remoteness alone provided an exciting atmosphere. Soon we came to a small bar where you could enjoy Michelada. This is a traditional Mexican mixed drink with beer and various other ingredients. But here we got an additional topping right on the drink, consisting of delicious prawns, fresh vegetables and nuts, garnished with a sweet and sour sauce and spices. This was definitely the best Michelada of my life and the right refreshment before we hiked to the highlight of Yelapa - the waterfall.
Wirklich viel zu entdecken gab es im Dorf nicht, die Abgelegenheit allein sorgte jedoch bereits für eine spannende Atmosphäre. Bald kamen wir zu einer kleinen Bar, an der man Michelada genießen konnte. Dabei handelt es sich um ein traditionell mexikanisches Mixgetränk mit Bier und verschiedenen anderen Zutaten. Doch hier erhielten wir direkt auf dem Getränk noch zusätzlich ein Topping, bestehend aus leckeren Garnelen, frischem Gemüse und Nüssen, garniert mit einer süß-sauren Soße und Gewürzen. Dies war definitiv der beste Michelada meines Lebens und die richtige Stärkung, bevor wir zum Highlight von Yelapa wanderten - dem Wasserfall.
It can be reached by an easy ten-minute walk from the village. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time left there, as we had to hurry to catch the last taxi boat back to Puerto Vallarta. But it was enough to swim in the cool, clear water for a few minutes and take a few photos. Afterwards, we walked back through the village, over the rock formation, through the river and along the beach to the boat pier. After another exhausting boat ride, we arrived tired and exhausted, but very happy in Puerto Vallarta. We will probably not forget this adventurous trip any time soon.
Dieser ist über einen einfachen, zehnminütigen Spaziergang vom Dorf zu erreichen. Viel Zeit blieb uns hier leider nicht, da wir uns beeilen mussten, um noch das letzte Taxiboot zurück nach Puerto Vallarta zu erreichen. Es reichte aber, um ein paar Minuten im kühlen, klaren Wasser zu baden und ein paar Fotos zu schießen. Danach ging es für uns wieder zurück durch das Dorf, über die Felsformation, durch den Fluss und entlang des Strandes zur Bootsanlegestelle. Nach einer weiteren anstrengenden Bootsfahrt kamen wir müde und erschöpft, jedoch sehr glücklich in Puerto Vallarta an. Diesen abenteuerlichen Ausflug werden wir wohl nicht so schnell vergessen.
