A wonderful and delicious surprise down by the river.
10/04/20
This has been amazing year for finding Chicken of the woods.
Early October I was taking a walk along the river after having picked up a few supplies in the village.
Laetiporus
I was most delighted when I found some Chicken of the Woods growing on the side and around the base of a Red Oak tree.
One really large one was well past it's prime.
Oh, how I wish I had seen it earlier.
No rush to get back to my cabin.
After I took a few pictures I sat down by the Chickens and relaxed by the river's side.
I took the task of doing most of the cleaning, rinsing and cutting of it up into smaller pieces outside.
I like it saute in butter.
Sometimes I sprinkle a little lemon pepper spice on it.
By the end of October I discovered two more Chicken of the Woods growing.
My favourite find is a future post to come.

When reading and seeing the photos I expected to see a chicken, but then I understood that it is the name of the mushrooms, sorry because I do not have too much knowledge on the subject, but the advantage I have is that I read the post completely, something new to learn, thank you very much
😊
Thank you so very much for the feedback.
Very Much appreciated !!
@lupega
I edited the title of my post to include Mushrooms.
:-D
@lupega, you are very welcome! great you educated yourself with this post. there are a lot of edible mushrooms that surround us, knowing them 'in the face' is a good way to live off the nature!
🌞
Thank you so very much....!!

Wow I only found one this year. Better freeze some of it for later.
😊
It was an amazing season here for them. The most I have ever seen.
I wish I could have frozen some. I don't have a freezer or refrigerator. I wish I could dehydrated food but with no electricity I'm very limited.
I would consider myself very lucky if I see so many again..🤗
Hmm I'll have to try some tests of cooking them then dehydrating for chicken jerky, maybe its possible if they are soaked in enough spices and salt...
