WIN HIVE. 50 Word Story Contest. - Meet My Friend, Maybe Win Some Hive. 😎 😁 πŸ₯³

Can the guy who normally struggles to say all he wants to in under 2000 words, fit an entire story in to just 50 small words?

Oh I got a feeling that is gonna be a BIG ask! Anybody who has had a conversation with me will probably use the word impossible in place of BIG!

I wasn't originally going to post this in the self improvement community. BUT Obviously one of the improvements we are all striving for on Hive is to improve our writing. One of the very first things I ever did on Hive ((when it had that other name, was enter fiction contests. I didn't think I was a great writer BUT that's exactly the point, isn't it? If you want to improve and level up your blogging and communication, that's the way.

Many feel daunted at approaching fiction but it has many benefits to ones writing in general, it improves creativity, interesting phrasing and short story writing is a FABULOUS foot in the door of creative writing.
"It doesn't get much shorter than 50 words, right?"

What's all this about Steven, you're rambling again! Sorry, yes I am.

Something a little different from me today. It's in response to a great 50 word story contest from my first and most successful onboardee, work mate and most importantly my friend Stephen ((Yup I know, it's not spelled the proper way like my name!!! 😁 )). You may know him already, if not, I would venture to suggest that maybe you should.

In the real world, as I mentioned, I know him as Stephen, but on the blockchain he transforms into his super hero alter-ego @father2b and right now he is running a stunning contest idea for a 50 word story with a twist...

Ooh! We all love a good twist right?

This 50 word story should be a bedtime story FOR ADULTS. Hey, it's only right, why should kids muscle in and monopolise the whole bedtime story niche, right? Think about it... When did you last come in from a hard days work, running around cooking and cleaning at home and have somebody read you a bedtime story as you slowly drifted off into noddyland???

EXACTLY!!!

Well Stephen has decided that enough is enough and I agree entirely. It's time the roles were reversed. Now I'm not sure about the legality of a three year old going and operating heavy machinery, preparing meals, giving medication to hospital patients or performing open heart surgery... So, I guess we still have to perform the functions of our job sadly BUT maybe the bedtime story arena is a fabulous place to start making things a little more equal, right?

Check out the contest to win Hive for your story HERE, VIA THIS MAGICAL SWIRLY FAIRYTALE VORTEX. YES! I DID say you can win Hive for your 50 word story if it is chosen as annihilator of all who stand before it beaten, broken and shrouded in failure "the most engrossing entry."

Here are the rules in a nutshell although they would definitely not fit in a nutshell so I don't know where that expression originated from, but it is certainly not fit for purpose...

This image was gratuitously stolen from Stephen's blog as he slept, this undercover of night theft gave me an enormous sense of pleasure as his graphics are always so much frikkin' cooler than mine and I am not jealous... No not at all...

RULES
Your story must be 50 words
Your story must be for adults
You must write your story as a post
You must use the tag #Adultbedtimestory
Title Of your post must contain My Bedtime Story
Only one entry per person

So without ((much)) further ado here is my entry. I wondered about the sort of things adults would want to hear in a bedtime story and I gotta be honest folks... I think I 'NAILED IT!'

50 word bedtime story father2b.png

Yessss! I fit that all into 50 words by a slightly sneaky use of the hyphenated word work-week, there was NOTHING in the rules about dirty, underhanded tactics... Right?

Thank YOU for taking the time to read my post and if you're one of those amazing people who like to hit the comments section... Then I doubly thank YOU!

Either way I want you to know that you are appreciated!

Keep taking the time to connect with each-other both here and in the so-called real world and try and look after each-other, because as you already know...

Wow!
This is how to write an Adult bedtime story in 50 words.

Now I feel that 50 words may of been to little as (like children do) i can’t sleep for the anticipation of what the world would be like if this fairytale-esk story was our reality.

Not that I would not expect any less from you but I am pretty blown away that this is the first entry.

Exactly what I was hoping for!!

Thanks man. It is also a thinly veiled copy of manifesto for when I attempt to be crowned evil Emperor of the universe! :D

The contest is a bloody fabulous idea, the unique twist in the prompt was hugely enjoying too. I hope many enter and support the first of what I feel may be many contests. I have seen you be the contest guy in other places online. I suspect that one day that is the moniker you will earn on Hive too :)

Ha what a fun contest. Can I write a decent story with 50 words? Let's see!

Tell me about it, I don't usually say Hi to people in less than 50 words but I have massive faith that you can do it justice Skatedude.
Have a great week man, always awesome to see ya :D

That is a great story!! I marvel at how much you fitted in. Well done!
I am going to check it out. πŸ‘πŸ’«β

Fabulous to hear. 50 words is a massive challenge BUT a lot of fun to try your hand at.

Pretty good πŸ™‚β˜€οΈ

That sure was a micro-short explanation about the 50-word challenge, @stevenwood. What was it, like 56 words? πŸ€”

Great entry. I'm king (not Boris, a real one) of calling out autocorrect. I often times believe there's a buncha teenagers behind my autocorrect like "watch this! He ordered a chicken sandwich but I'm gonna turn chicken to children" and then all the other punk kids laugh out loud--pranksters!

There's a reason for the previous, italicized paragraph which, by the way, is 50 words. Go ahead and count'em.... I'll wait.

:whistling: ........

:pours another cup'0 Joe: .........

Where was I? Oh yeah!! Did that prick king really mean it when he said everyone has to work 8 hours in a week?! Or did autocorrect switch your Zero to Eight? πŸ€”

And considering the lengthiness of this response and masterfully crafted 50-word part about the punks behind my autocorrect, if you don't respond to me again, well I'm gonna... I really will this time...

(look for this response as a feature topic in one of Steven Wood's future micro-short articles is what I'll do) <-- kidding, that was a joke. There was a couple of'em here, actually (jokes), but one almost got by me and I can't make this shit up, Steven!! They had 'kissing' just now.. Just Now! Back there when I said 'kidding.'

πŸ‘πŸΏ Happy Tuesday, sir, have a good week!
