Saludos a todos y bienvenidos a mi blog. Hoy traigo la reseña de una película que no esperaba ver tan pronto, aunque sí estaba en mi lista de Netflix.
En realidad quería ver Cementerio de mascotas, impulsada por dos publicaciones que leí en esta comunidad, pero no la conseguí en ninguna de las plataformas que estoy usando por lo que será en otra oportunidad.
La sinopsis de Los cuatro jinetes del apocalipsis fue suficiente para llamar mi atención y darle al botón de reproducir, y es que últimamente (no sé si a alguien más le pasa) voy en busca de alguna película y entre tanto buscar ninguna me atrae, terminan pasando los minutos, me aburro y no veo ninguna. 🤷😆
Así que era ahora o nunca.
Greetings everyone and welcome to my blog. Today I bring a review of a movie that I didn't expect to see so soon, although it was on my Netflix list.
I actually wanted to watch Pet Cemetery, prompted by two posts I read in this community, but I didn't get it on any of the platforms I'm using so it will be another time.
The synopsis of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse was enough to get my attention and hit the play button, and lately (I don't know if it happens to anyone else) I'm looking for a movie and in the middle of searching none of them attract me, minutes go by, I get bored and I don't watch any of them. 🤷😆
So it was now or never.

Un detective descubre que los asesinatos que están sucediendo a su alrededor están relacionados con los cuatros jinetes del apocalipsis de la biblia y es el primer paso de muchos que debe dar para ser conducido a la verdad.
Pero mientras más se involucra en el caso, más se aleja de sus dos hijos, lo que le costará caro.
A detective discovers that the murders going on around him are related to the bible's four horsemen of the apocalypse and it is the first step of many he must take to be led to the truth.
But the more he gets involved in the case, the more he distances himself from his two children, which will cost him dearly.
Mi opinión 🖤 My opinion
El comienzo de esta película causa curiosidad: un hombre encuentra los dientes ensangrentados de una persona pero no hay rastro de su cuerpo. Junto a esta escena cuidadosamente planificada, una frase que nos acompañará en toda la cinta.
«Ven y mira».
Esperas que ocurra algo más de acción, pero las escenas que siguen son silenciosas, apagadas y hasta aburridas. Se podría justificar esto porque apenas nos están presentando a los personajes, pero no todos estarían dispuestos a esperar tanto tiempo para conocerlos al fin.
Creo que no serían capaces de esperar siquiera que se termine de desvelar el misterio que ocultan estos asesinatos, porque incluso eso se torna confuso, y nada interesante. No llegas a conectar demasiado con estos crímenes.
No me terminó de convencer el modo en el que cuentan la historia, el camino por el que quieren guiarnos de pista en pista es extraño, como si fuera lógico que el detective descubriera ciertas cosas que no debería saber. Al mismo tiempo nos quieren introducir en la vida de este hombre, que ya sabemos que está roto por la muerte de su esposa y que es descuidado con el hogar.
Todo esto se mezcla de forma rara, a intervalos podemos ver la vida del detective y el caso que hay que resolver en su trabajo que requiere sacrificios por su parte. Para ser sincera y completamente sincera, hubo dos cosas por las que continué mirando esta producción. La primera, es que quería saber si al final la espera iba a valer la pena. La segunda, es que el protagonista se me ha hecho guapo desde siempre así que... 🤣
The beginning of this film causes curiosity: a man finds the bloody teeth of a person but there is no trace of his body. Along with this carefully planned scene, a phrase that will accompany us throughout the film.
"Come and see."
You expect some more action to happen, but the scenes that follow are silent, muted and even boring. You could justify this because we're just being introduced to the characters, but not everyone would be willing to wait that long to finally meet them.
I don't think they would even be able to wait for the mystery behind these murders to be unraveled, because even that becomes confusing, and uninteresting. You don't get to connect too much with these crimes.
I was not convinced by the way they tell the story, the way they want to guide us from clue to clue is strange, as if it were logical for the detective to discover certain things he should not know. At the same time they want to introduce us to the life of this man, who we already know is broken by the death of his wife and who is careless with the home.
It all blends together in a weird way, at intervals we get to see the detective's life and the case to be solved in his work that requires sacrifices on his part. To be honest and completely sincere, there were two things why I continued to watch this production. The first, is that I wanted to know if it was going to be worth the wait in the end. The second, is that the main character has been made handsome to me since forever so.... 🤣
Si no hubiese sido por eso la habría dejado tirada desde hace rato. En cuanto a los personajes, se basan únicamente en estos tres actores que mencioné anteriormente: el detective, el hijo del detective y uno de los primeros jinetes asesinos.
Aún así, ni siquiera desarrollan bien a estos personajes. Lo peor es que los otros que los rodean parecen muñecos, rellenos para construir un escenario. En cierto modo me dió pena mirarlos, porque estaban allí por estar.
Hablando de eso, algunas actuaciones tampoco llegaron a convencerme. Algunos diálogos no me parecieron ni creíbles, y otros no tenían sentido. Hay cosas que estuvieron de más, y otras que se quedaron cortas.
Es como si fuéramos a la deriva a medida que avanzan los minutos, y para completar esto, una deriva sin mucho entretenimiento. No es lo que estoy acostumbrada a ver en estos filmes de policías, detectives, asesinos...
No hubo ese suspenso, esa adrenalina, esa curiosidad que te hace comerte las uñas, esa tensión. Al no conectar bien con la historia no sentía como una necesidad descubrir lo que estaba pasando en realidad, esa necesidad imperiosa de saber.
No entendía por qué estaban empeñados en mostrarnos pequeñas partes de la vida personal del detective, y lo mal padre que estaba siendo hasta que se hizo algo evidente.
If it hadn't been for that I would have dropped it long ago. As for the characters, they are based solely on these three actors I mentioned earlier: the detective, the detective's son, and one of the first killer horsemen.
Even so, they don't even develop these characters well. The worst thing is that the others around them look like dolls, stuffed to build a scenario. In a way I felt sorry to look at them, because they were just there for the sake of being there.
Speaking of which, some of the performances didn't convince me either. Some dialogues didn't even seem believable to me, and others didn't make sense. There were some things that were too much, and others that fell short.
It's as if we were drifting as the minutes progress, and to complete this, a drift without much entertainment. It's not what I'm used to seeing in these films about cops, detectives, assassins...
There wasn't that suspense, that adrenaline, that nail-biting curiosity, that tension. Not connecting well with the story I didn't feel like a need to find out what was really going on, that compelling need to know.
I didn't understand why they were bent on showing us little bits of the detective's personal life, and what a bad father he was being until it became somewhat obvious.
No me sorprendí cuando "casualmente" este detective está relacionado con estos crímenes, y en última instancia van por él y su familia, justamente cuando acaba de descubrir algo determinante. Es un recurso que se usa bastante en estas películas, pero aquí llegó a cansarme. Hacía que todo fuera menos creíble aún.
Admito que al final lloré un poquito con la escena que nos presentaron y que logró conmoverme pero eso no significó que haya sido buena en realidad. Era como que... Ok, estoy llorando por esta tontería pero sigo sin entender nada.
Es decir, las motivaciones para que esta gente empezara a matar me parecieron una tontería total. No digo que las frustraciones familiares, el maltrato o la falta de atención no sean motivos suficientes para volverte una persona capaz de hacer eso, es solo que... ¿Qué tenía que ver eso con la biblia?
En cierto modo eso era lo que estaba esperando. Encontrar un motivo que tuviera sentido y que se relacionara con la biblia, no lo que nos presentaron al final.
No entendí por qué tanta teatralidad para querernos decir qué, que hicieron todo lo que hicieron por... ¿Falta de atención? Es como muy infantil.
Pero bueno, digamos que lo importante es que el detective aprendió la lección y a partir de ahora será un mejor padre.
Pensé que esta peli al ser del 2008 me llegaría a gustar, porque algunas nuevas películas están... 🙄 Bah. Pero no, no fue así. Lastimosamente, es una historia bastante olvidable (para mí) y no la volvería a ver.

I was not surprised when "coincidentally" this detective is related to these crimes, and ultimately they go after him and his family, just when he has just discovered something decisive. It's a resource that is used quite a lot in these movies, but here I got tired of it. It made everything even less credible.
I admit that at the end I cried a little bit with the scene we were introduced to that managed to move me but that didn't mean it was actually good. It was like... Ok, I'm crying over this nonsense but I still don't get it at all.
I mean, the motivations for these people to start killing seemed to me to be total nonsense. I'm not saying that family frustrations, mistreatment, or lack of attention aren't enough reasons to turn you into a person capable of doing that, it's just.... What did that have to do with the bible?
In a way that's what I was hoping for. To find a motif that made sense and related to the bible, not what we were presented with at the end.
I didn't understand why so much theatricality to tell us what, that they did everything they did for.... Lack of attention? It's like very childish.
But well, let's just say that the important thing is that the detective learned his lesson and will be a better father from now on.
I thought that this movie being from 2008 I would come to like it, because some new movies are.... 🙄 Bah. But no, it didn't. Sadly, it's a pretty forgettable story (for me) and I wouldn't watch it again.

Solía pensar que sólo las películas más nuevas lo hacían fatal. Seguro que asumía que una película de hace 14 años merecía la pena. Pero supongo que al igual que las películas de hoy en día son a veces terribles, seguirán siendo terribles en los próximos años, y la gente puede asumir que había mejores películas en esta época.
Está claro que esta película tiene un argumento bastante mundano, un desarrollo de personajes ineficaz y un pobre enfoque de los asuntos relacionados con la realidad. Descubrir que no tiene nada que ver con la biblia es bastante decepcionante.
Y al igual que tú, sólo me quedaría hasta el final de una película terrible si sólo quiero ver cómo termina todo, con la esperanza de que mejore, y/o hay alguna dama hermosa que me encanta su aspecto y su sonrisa. Aparte de esas dos razones, me iría pronto.

Oh now I remember this movie, I saw it a long time ago, I had forgotten it, well, it wasn't a movie that made an impact on me. I remember some things half way through, it's a movie to pass the time but then it's easily forgotten.
