Although Hive is not part of my online world for too long now, it has been my best online experience so far, hands down. It would take me a two thousand words post to put out and share with you guys how and why Hive has been so fantastic for me.
I probably have ten of dedicated posts to this topic already already.
Many of you are probably in my position as well and circle jerking ourselves with the idea of why Hive is great wouldn't be too productive. You know what would be productive though? Some proper Hive marketing.
This thing deserves to be way more popular than it currently is. Take DOGE for example. It does basically nothing, it has a severe inflation problem, hasn't had an upgrade since like forever, but even the no coiners have heard about it.
Meanwhile Hive, which has way more use cases than Doge has, is so under the radar. From a fundamentals perspective, things look pretty good, we have tokenized content being created on a decentralized blockchain, DeFi, all sort of communities and apps rolling on this chain and still there's not much fuzz about us in the media.
I guess no outlet has dedicated any article to us since the Sun takeover and the hardfork that gave birth to this new blockchain. I don't get why we don't have yet a fund for marketing and a strategy that's put into practice to promote this blockchain.
It's like all day every day I read about all sort of cryptocurrency projects that don't do shit in the real world, but not one post dedicated to our beloved blockchain and community. Who do we have to pay for that, and why isn't some marketing strategy on the table so far?
I really don't get it... Maybe some of you reading this post, if anyone still bothers reading my crap, has a clue why we don't get more exposure in the media and don't have already some decent marketing going on for Hive...
Please enlighten me... That's why I created this #askleo community from the first place. To ignite community talks and find answers to all sort of musings.
Thanks for attention,
Adrian

Here's one article. It's marketing too:

What about a cointelegraph article?

Too expensive?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I doubt that. How can expensive can it be?
I also strongly believe that if we'd have a donations fund for such a purpose it would get filled in hours.

There is a fund of 10K HBD being built through a HDF proposal (which will be replenished when depleted via a new proposal). I don't know, but if I'd have to guess the latest PR articles for Hive are thanks to that proposal.

After Steem launched it soon went to number 4 or 5 on CoinMarketCap. based on the concept of pay authors and content discovery.
At the time, Ned, Dan and Steemit Inc owned nearly 80 percent of the stake, and the future was based on the promise of distribution.
During that time new users joined, we got air time, people talked about the project and new users poured in. There was a lot of debate about Dan about DPOS, etc. But people said our name. The only people who ever talk about Hive now are Hive users
Many never understood end-users weren't the invertors, but rather traffic and users would bring the investors. The idea that it wasn't working spread, and got worse during the bear season. Our peak user phase came while Dan was powering down a huge amount of stake, since the price didn't go up, instead of reviewing business intelligence, just reinforced the idea that "it doesn't work"
The stakeholders decided IT DOESN"T WORK. lol.
There has really never been any agreement on what the Hive blockchain is since then. While the positive energy from feeling like they fought J. Sun was invigorating for a bit... It has no compelling message to bring users on.
We hate Justin really isn't a marketing slogan. We are decentralized has turned into code words for we are uncomfortable being shoved totally towards social media, but have no idea or agreement on what we are instead.
I think part of the reason every marketing attempt is subject to infighting is really just the fact that Hive has an identity problem, end users are faced not only with a hard to use platform, but a hard to please and fairly offensive culture.

Very well said. It often times feels like the large stakeholders don't even want too much exposure.

Yeah, I feel like that too.

I understand what you meant concerning no proper setup to publicize Hive.
I will say this is a general aspect in which all of us in the Hive ecosystem have to put in all effort together to create enough publicity and awareness for the Hive community.
I guess most of us don't know the essence of doing this not knowing is a means in which the platform will grow and also strengthen the price.
If we can all do well to share post about hive in social media like Tweeter and Facebook it will go a long way.
Here's an interesting post and discussion about Hive marketing:

Thanks for linking this, I appreciate it! :) 🙏
Hive and Leofiance deserve more marketing. I have seen tons of shitty, rug pull projects out there receiving more attention and it's just sad.

Splinterlands, Leofinance, Dlux.io, NFTShowroom...
When I came back around to my socials this year, it 100% was the dApp/web3 environment that kept me here. The biggest hurdle for me was understanding the background tech.
What seems to get people to look into HIVE the most when I promote it is hooking them with a really well built game (splinterlands) and then explaining to them about web3 and the ease of buying/trading cards (peakmonsters, others), and then topping it off with "You can write quality blogs and earn to buy even more cards on HIVE."

As you say, maybe sun has been in charge of shutting down or throwing everything related to the Hive blockchain and that is something that affects us negatively, perhaps out of revenge or because it is not good for people to know about this project.

There is a fund for marketing, but it is not properly used as non marketers are handling it.
Also, Hive will not rank high as SEO is low and there is less activity than on competitive social media platforms.
There are a lot of factors, besides marketing that need tweaking, but we are in theory decentralized and this is a little hard to coordinate.
