Q4 Money
I learnt this from the retail industry when I used to sell in large volumes on Amazon. We basically operated at a loss all year, building stock and preparing sales funnels through the seasons, all so we could make all the money back with profit in Q4.
It applies to a lot of things. For example, my YouTube channels are starting to pick up in terms of revenue. My CPM has already jumped from around $5 to $12 (more than double!), and this is just the start. I'm getting fewer views though, since I haven't been consistently uploading videos, but my next payout will be more than anything I got in any of the other quarters this year.
So why does this happen? Well, we know why it happens in regular retail - the holiday season. That's when a large chunk of the world, especially the western world, goes on a consumerism and materialism frenzy, reaching a climax during the Christmas and Boxing Day sales. There's also a bit of a bump during the January sales for the correct type of products; those related to weight loss, starting anew, self help, and so on.
For content creators, it is two-fold. One is the increased advertising competition on our content, if we use an ad revenue paradigm like Adsense. Companies pay a premium to play ads in Q4 because they want to get in front of our audience to push their products. They know people are a lot more likely to buy once we're in the consumerism quarter.
The second reason is that affiliate links work a lot better too. People that click on links are also more likely to purchase the product, or at least some other product for which the affiliate still usually gets credit, in Q4.
As someone who uses both systems above, I am starting to see an uptick in both. In the grand scheme of things, it's not actually that much money, especially compared to what I'm doing in the cryptoverse, but in the long term, it's actually starting to build up. I also like the very passive nature of this. Some of my best performing affiliate links are associated with content I created over five years ago! Evergreen content, that's the key to long-tail passive income.
Apparently we are going to experience an unbelievable Q4 in the crypto world that will no doubt blow away anything I've ever achieved in any other make money online thing that I've ever done. I'm very much looking forward to it.
Talking of which, one could treat this platform, Hive, in the same way retailers do. Depending on whom and what their goals are, one could operate in one financial year, or five, or even ten. One could build, all year and cash out at the apex of Q4, instead of cashing out weekly like some do. Of course, some people have a pretty long term plan for their Hive. I've even seen some "I'll never sell" folks on here. I think that's pretty extreme, unless there is a way of leveraging Hive or borrowing against it much like the Michael Saylors of the world suggest for Bitcoin.

And so am I, I was recently discussing this with Nonso few days back. Then also, what if the markets never corrects after all the q4 run as many believe, what if it just continues to go up or holds steady at the top. Wishful thinking maybe

Thanks man. Yeah it's been like that for decades, if not centuries. It's more pronounced now with Internet retail. The amount of money that gets moved during this Q4 period is totally insane. Let's get a little bit of it man :)
Great post and well explained the psychology of a common buyer in the Q4 frenzy! If you can't see something during the year, now it's the perfect time to put it out for sale... People are buying so many stupid things at these times... lol...
As a website owner, I have also experienced more sales of links, sponsored blog posts, etc... Definitely, the best time of the year to use these perks and earn some additional money... Even in crypto, as it will happen the same here as a lot of people treat cryptocurrencies as products and will probably buy them more...
I have bought some crypto for my son's birthday, so why you don't do the same for Christmas? :)
