Before reading, please note that Lucious Lyon is a movie character from the series “EMPIRE”.
Yes, we all know Lucious Lyon as a movie character was a lot of things both good and bad in fact it is safe to say he was more bad than good to both his family and those he barely even knew.
Some of the bad things Lucious Lyon did was; steal from Philly street, throw his 6 year old child in the trash can, tried to take his son down over some music award, killed his good friend and cookie's cousin "Bunkie", left his wife in jail for what seemed like forever, tried to take his elderly son down because he didn't want him running the empire, disrespected his rapper son by backing up another rapper and most of all made his wife cookie suffer a lot even though she was the real love of his life.
What's that term he used? Oh, yes! she was his "ride or die".
Now, as bad as these things Lucious Lyon did may seem, he sure did some good to people too. He found talents, groomed them even if it was for his pocket most of the time, was good at making people feel good with his words of encouragement and was always ready to put his life on the line for any of his family member.
That being said, let's now go into the most important part of this story. Not everyone recognizes talent when they see one. Some people might be what people call a "one hit wonder" , while some might not even sing well at first but that pure talent will be recognized in them.
We'll only be taking a look at the artiste whose acts are similar with the good Lucious Lyon acts.
We have a lot of good and brilliant Nigerian artistes but the ones really dominating the industry are; Burna boy, Olamide, Wizkid, Tiwa savage, Fireboy, Superboy Cheque, Rema, CKay etc etc. Out of these ones listed above, Olamide is the only artiste that can be called the Lucious Lyon of the Nigerian Music industry judging from the good side alone.
They are both versatile. Of course Olamide started out as a rapper and then began singing too same with Lucious.
Olamide has helped a lot of raw talents come out into the light. I always wondered why he never signed any of them but I guess he knows what he wants plus some artistes are better "collabed" with than signed. I'm taking about the likes of Fireboy, Fave, Jaywillz, Superboy Cheque, bella Shmurda, portable, Asake etc.
As Lucious Lyon would say; "Talent recognizes talent".
Olamide is also partners with Empire record label, now you see what I'm saying. His moves are just too similar to that of Lucious Lyon when it comes to his music and management.
Lastly, Olamide doesn't do things for the money. He does it for the "street cred" and the street actually owes him that as no other artiste can take that from him.
He only does what he does for the love of music, family and his empire “YBNL”.
TO THE EMPIRE!!!
