RE: Daily Crypto Markets Live Blog: Let's Talk About Technology (09/28/21)

TikTok officially has a billion users. Facebook has around 3 billion. Can it overtake Facebook?. I think it can takeover Facebook and Instagram combined. They have created a mind-blowing product and their algorithm is great for visibility.

We need something like Tik-Tok built on Hive. A truly decentralized version of a mini-video sharing app.

Can we create an application that gets hundreds of millions of users in the decentralized world?

As for TikTok, no because FB has many different applications.

I think we can and many Hive Dapps have to potential to scale that much. Splinterlands can attract millions of users for sure.

Right. If you just compare the social media app of Facebook and Tik Tok, then they are head to head. FB is too big because they are almost everywhere.

No I don't think TikTok will ever takeover Facebook. Facebook has Instagram as well so I am sure they share a user base and I doubt people would want to lose the easy login for Facebook.

I think they need to create a Tik Tok login service to get another use case.

If I had to choose between facebook and tiktok, I would choose facebook since tiktok is owned by China.

Tik Tok is owned by China but Facebook is no different. For me, all of them are the same. Tik Tok is banned in India so for me, there's no point in using it.

Yea both are bad and I don't want either as a gatekeeper.

That's why we need decentralized social media apps that could replace them eventually.

Let's hope Project Blank becomes one of the replacement apps.

#Terrive -- https://terrive.one

It's Hive's version of Instagram, and it permits uploads of not only images but short video files.

YES! This, we need this to develop further. But I don't see much action from the Dev's side. Do you have any updates on this Magna?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I don't have experience with IG, so I can't compare it with Terrive. It's a straightforward program still a working prototype, but developers have made improvements based on suggestions from testers (including me).

The prototype is far enough along that it can be used like any other dApp. My main form of communication was through D.Buzz to one of the developers, @appukuttan66, and he was very responsive to the concerns I had raised (UX and controls).

I'm not sure what's new regarding Terrive, but anyone can use it even as a working prototype.

Yes, a working prototype is fine. But I want to know any other update about this. Do we have a roadmap? What's the next phase of development? That'd give us some idea about what to expect and when to expect.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

At the moment I don't have any information like that. When I get back from the appointment later today I can do some research on that.

Dear @magnacarta and @finguru ,

Terrive is an indie project, so IG development is slower than expected because there are limits to what just 1 guy can do 😉. I do work on Terrive whenever i can but i also have to take care of the all real world stuff. Right now, I am doing a major rework for terrive ( not just for #trhome posts, but for all posts ) for more "simpler" page structure so it's easier to add new features in the future 🙂. So, the rework might take time but is worth it for scalability.

Thanks for getting back to us! Thanks also for letting us know what's happening with the Terrive project. I hope things are going well offline for you. Good luck offline and with your work on Terrive. !PIZZA

Great to hear from you @appukuttan66. Thanks a lot for the update. I can understand now that it can be so hard for a single guy to manage all of it. Sorry for having unrealistic expectations.

Do you plan on adding more people to your team in the future? At some point, you will have to.

Have you thought about getting funding via DHF Proposal?
