What Is Your ONE REASON Why You Love Hive?

in LeoFinancelast year

Most of us love Hive for one reason or another. Many of us love it for more than one reason. You might find it surprisingly difficult to choose only one reason why you love Hive. It was difficult for me.

Is it because of our core community, Hive's layer 0? Our community is certainly the heart and soul that gives life to this technology and the ones that would defend it fiercely, as we have seen on the previous blockchain when we were under attack by the trophy collector who loses interest as soon as he gets what he sets his eyes on.

It's hard for me to say our community is not THE ONE reason why I love Hive. As great as our community is, the world is big, and probably we are not unique in our fight for a cause.

Hmm, what if we throw account ownership into the mix? This is something pretty rare, and almost unique in a social, functional, thriving ecosystem (which Hive is).

If people own their accounts and have a stake in the game, they have additional motivation to defend what they have built. It's like building your own business. You'll try to keep it afloat despite hardships because it's yours. You've been with it during good and bad times.

But still, maybe something is missing. If you have account ownership, but (some of) your transactions could be censored at any time (cough, cough... st33m, at one point during the takeover and after the split), how would you feel? And how safe would your account ownership seem under these conditions, if censorship is possible? Ask some major investors who were robbed of their coins on the same blockchain.

So, my ONE reason to love Hive has to be censorship resistance. That guarantees account ownership too. And empowers the community.

Now it's your turn.

What is your ONE REASON why you love Hive?

I paused for a while and reflected. TBH, it's the future promise of passive income. I am tired of working. I want to do my own thing.

I really like your answer! Yes, Hive tends to become a way to assure passive income, with the condition it is built and protected actively. And you seem to understand the active part of building it. You don't wait for the passive income to just fall on your lap.

Yeah, just like planting seeds. You cannot expect a harvest after a year. You have to water and wait for several years to see those seeds grow into trees.

Exactly. Some expect it after a month, lol.

That's funny. I see a few killing their chicken at first sight of growth instead of allowing them to lay more eggs and grow more chickens. 🤦

It's excuse proof!

Let me explain lol Yes, there is a learning curve when you first get started. A few terms you learn and need to know...But once you get into things here and understand how it's laid out...It's pretty much flawless.

If you put in the effort, and add value here...You are rewarded. In more ways than one.

I like it! Excuse proof!

There are so many things to do around here, and pretty easy to find something you like, that indeed is excuse proof. And indeed, you get rewarded for doing something you like.

Splinterlands sucked me me. 😅

I like no fee and transaction speed.

Splinterlands was definitely a magnet for many from the ecosystem.

Yep, 3-sec transaction speed + no fee is still a major attraction point of Hive.

It's a dopamine hit when I get a post get upvoted. And, of course, there is financial reward. I couldn't make a living posting to Hive. But, it is entertaining like gambling. Will my next post bust or win? I keep pulling the lever.

I've never thought of my posts as gambles, lol. Interesting way of putting it. I agree it's hard to live off author and curation rewards, in most cases. Luckily, we have many more options on Hive. Also luckily, I'm still in accumulation mode and I don't need any of this for living expenses.

Aside from the potential monetary gain, I think the content over here is quite amazing! There are so many awesome communities and you get to make friends with people all over the world!

Well pointed out! You can find great content on Hive, for many domains.

I agree @gadrian that HIVE is a great community. That is why I always come back!
Have a great weekend.

Yes, it is, Barb. And quite diverse, too. Thanks for dropping by.

I love the community here on Hive. Yes, I am making money for my posts and comments. That's nice but I have gotten more engagement and support here on Hive than on any of the other social media platforms.
So, that's the one reason I love being here.

but I have gotten more engagement and support here on Hive than on any of the other social media platforms.

That's very important! Not many people realize that.

It really is a very important aspect of all this.
It's much harder to get that on other social media.

Enjoy your day, @gadrian!

@gadrian! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @lisamgentile1961. (2/10)

Good Morning and Thank you, @youarealive! Enjoy your day.😀

For me, it is the freedom of speech and right to ownership.

Yes, on Hive, you are free to speak your mind with no one pointing fingers at you because they believe you have said your own opinion from a different perspective.

Then, you have your right to your account. No one will hack or seize your account unless you carelessly give away your keys.

Well, sometimes you might get some finger-pointing and even conflicts. Not as often lately as in the past from what I see, but I don't see everything that's going on on Hive.

But at the blockchain level, nobody can censor you. And no one can censor your transactions or take away your holdings or your account. That of course under the condition that nothing like what happened back on S**m will be possible, and if it would, we will probably split again.

In one word: community!

All the techy stuff might be as well available in other places, but the community we have here is very unique, and the quintessence of Hive

You have a good point that the tech can be copied to other places that don't have the community. Thanks for that!

Once the value is added to HIVE ecosystem, everything is seamless.

But it’s more difficult to buy than other cryptos. Not a lot of exchanges, and relatively low volume.

I agree. Although the future is in the DEXes. People just need to get used to them more. It's unfortunate they can't be used to onramp and offramp directly, maybe they could become more trustworthy than CEXes.

No second best.

For sure.

If a person can't find something they like in the Hive, there is not much in the world they like.

Good point. Hive touches so many areas of interest. You just have to find what you like.

I let this email sit for a bit to give it some thought, Adrian.
You certainly list a number of positive attributes of Hive, but I think the number one reason is a community and a sense of belonging.
I will be wrapping up my first year on Hive soon, and I have met so many fantastic people on Hive and have learned so much from the community.

Of course, the financial side is nothing to scoff at, and I have no doubt that when the bull returns, we are going to do quite well.

Thanks for making me reflect on my Hive experience, Adrian.

That is very important indeed. I believe humans will always thrive to belong somewhere, and the fact Hive provides such a setup where communities can grow and belong together is a great strength of Hive.

For me, Hive provides not one, but many use-cases to prove it is not just a coin in crypto. There is more value here besides the pricetag on HIVE.
!PIZZA

Indeed, that's why is hard to choose just one of them. ;)

For me, it's the fast and feeless transactions because it can appeal to a ton of people and I can see a lot of people get onto Hive.

Yes, indeed, speed is of the essence in today's world. And nobody likes to pay every time they do something.
