I highly doubt that small community is focusing on only curating posts that are giving them beneficiary and even go so far as to look for posts 12h before payout just to cheat themselves some more self-votes with 1-1.5m HP. Using beneficiaries if you want to aid a community is fine as long as the self-votes don't mainly focus on that for themselves.

It is, but if had to choose between downvoting a 50% and that account that spreads out their votes on other authors, I'd choose the former as it does a lesser evil.

I have seen that account upvote authors not delegated to it so it's curation pattern is not entirely aimed at circle jerking per se.

Unlike a project hope scheme where there is a small to zero chance one can get an upvote if they don't set 50% beneficiaries to their post.

Firstly!
I don't use foul words and neither I wish to continue to have a conversation if you will use such slang.

I am a newcomer on Hive and this is my first hand experience of this platform and if this is how the top guns gives explanation, what to say.

Secondly, the "lesser evil" does not make any sense. Evil is evil, less or more. The thing which is "less" for you, can be "more" for me. It is very subjective.

Could you do me a favour by going through these too, especially towards the end.

You can take offense about the slang as much as you want, it is what it is. Would you prefer me to use some euphemism like cooperative alternative monetary masturbation on the blockchain? No slang there.

The 1st link implies that it's not mandatory to set those beneficiaries and even people that don't set it gets a vote. Project hope seems to favor posts that 50% beneficiary rewards as a prerequisite.

People are encourage but they are not punished for not doing it with being ignored.

The second link is a requirement for a contest. Note the contest guidelines as submitting something not within the usual content you would see as there are specific requirements for entry.

Second part, you're right evil is evil and I would love to have more dv mana to get as much rewards reduced for people that do cooperative alternative monetary masturbation on the blockchain.

I asked those questions to get an explanation of the vote-selling. I didn't anticipate that you would be writing a post on it leave apart who is commenting and who is not.

When I didn't get a satisfactory explanation of "how setting a beneficiary is vote-selling ", I started looking at other communities that are asking members to set beneficiary. And then I shared all those with you to get an explanation.
This was the reason why I shared it with you, it is not the way you think it is.
It is quite hilarious the way you are imagining it to be.

I am new to this platform and it is out of curiosity that I am asking these questions, not for any ill gains.

Apart from a member of PH, I also have also created my own community ( https://hive.blog/trending/hive-123740), I was asking questions for more clarity.

And this is not the first time I have asked questions, I have done so in community incubation and ocd discord.
