Great question… would be interesting to see other countries.
Spain:
If you sell your Crypto in Spain than these are the levels:
€0 to €6.000, you must pay a 19% tax, €6.001 to €50.000, 21% tax, €50.001 onwards, 23% tax will be charged.
Every level is counted each here… the same like our income tax… that ranches from 19% up to 47% this year…. So when you sold 10.000 you pay 19% over the first 6.000 and 21% over the next 3.999 and so on.

Ok, that is actually good based on the income level. Can you club your gain and losses to show total gain or loss? Because in India if you get gain in one coin you have to pay 30% tax on it and if you have got loss you cannot ask for a refund.

No they want each thing fully… you need to specify it all and keep books.
Here it is rather complicated the tax system.

Oh, that is a huge tax, but I hope the cost of buying is deducted before calculating any tax on the sale.
I just read now that we don't have any specific Crypto tax here but income derived from any sources (that includes crypto gains or profits) are subject to income tax and it follows the current taxation in the country which can be up to 35% of the net income which means losses are factored in.

Yes kinda, but not necessarily specifying everything. When I file my income tax returns, I just write "income from main business" and "others" then the amount.
Capital gains are filed and paid separately. Must be done within 30 days after the sale of an asset. While income tax returns are done annually.
I guess they are still trying to make a bill to tax crypto. But if one is so inclined, I think he can file and pay it under capital gains since crypto is an asset :)

Nope… it is all classed as capital gains tax in Spain.
So stock, crypto… anything you earn on next to your salery/ income.

That's no good. Here in our country, I actually have no idea :) But if we declare our income then we'd probably get taxed the same way as the usual taxes (10% and above depending on the net income level)

I'm not sure if crypto tax works the same way as the regular incomes (I'll have to check). But it will be good if it does rather than the flat rate. It wouldn't be fair if you pay such tax rate and your loss aren't considered.

In the US, it is simply under the capital gains laws.
So under 1 year holding is taxed at one's earned income rate. Over a year is the capital gains tax rate.

The capital gains is like 15% or 20%. The earned income tax rate varies based upon income: between 10% and 39% I believe.

Short-term cap gains is where they’ll kill you on crypto
Long-term cap gains is obviously far more attractive.
Mine averaged out to about 19% with a mix of some short and some long-term

Finally listening to the AMA.
There are $4,000 HBD generated so far from the staking. Khal doesnt know what came from the bridge fees so far nor did he have the numbers on the arbitrage bot. That said he does think that bot will generate the most money for the protocol.

Yes the bot that is doing the arbitrage is making money. It seeks out opportunities to trade pHBD, HBD, and Bitcoin (since I believe the HBD on Bittrex is in BTC).
It is just like HBD Stabilizer which keeps making money for the DAO.

I actually expect the price of POLYCUB to jump rather quickly once Treasury starts buying. We will have to see how much is being generated by the Protocol but we the halving over the next few months will mean very little new POLYCUB will hit the market. That means buying what is already out there.

There is a wildfire very close by, started this afternoon. I can see it from my roof. Scary… helicopters and planes can not be up in the night anymore there were 10 🚁 and 5 🛩. 180 firefighters and army is here to help now…

Let’s hope for the best. They haven’t said how much is burned yet the area in flames. It is just behind that hill. The houses, right side up the hill, are evacuated.

As long as they can keep it on the hill. Everywhere next to it are houses.
Last year in September everything left from it, up a large mountain was burned, 10.000 hectares. It took almost 2 months to extinguish. Everybody is still in shock from back than and is hoping they can control it early so not a repeat fire like that can occur.

The centralized exchanges are going to be a massive problem when it comes to the privacy tokens. Since Litecoin is adding MimbleWimble, it will end up being delisted.

If cexes continue delisting privacy coins the only way you could trade them would be through Thorchain since it is still the only protocol (that I know of) that lets you swap tokens from two different blockchains natively, eg LTC to BTC.

It was discussed for years and was finally started to be implemented (last fall I believe). It has to reach consensus with the miners which, I guess is happening.
LTC will likely be dropped from most exchanges due to the privacy feature.

Well it makes it harder to go from fiat to LTC. However, I am sure there will be a lot of LPs opened up (and perhaps DEX) that carry LTC.
It will end up being a privacy layer for movement throughout the crypto world. Of course, the on and off ramps with fiat will be blocked if governments go in that direction.

That is true but then that also removes the privacy idea.
What it does provide is for one to move around the crypto world without the eye.
For example, take some money, move it using the LTC MW feature, then convert it into whatever coin using a LP or DEX. This way one can grow his or her holdings without being known.
Yes it cant get to fiat but, if, commerce starts to increase using crypto, it might not matter much.

This is what I've been proposing for the last few weeks: buy stablecoins first just to get them off centralized exchanges immediately, then at your convenience at the DEX of your choice use stablecoins to buy crypto you really want. It's a way to minimize exposure to centralized authorities.

For most people, not just here but everywhere else, the most important number in cryptocurrency is 21 million: the MAX supply of Bitcoin.
What's the 2nd most important number? I think this is 84 million: the MAX supply of Litecoin.
Eventually people will be locked out of Bitcoin and fighting for Sats until even Satoshi are hard to come by. When people see how similar LTC is to BTC, they may give LTC a second look.
I'm not saying to ignore Bitcoin. I am saying not to overlook Litecoin, especially since it's getting the CUB treatment these days. With or without MimbleWimble, Litecoin has value.

Yeah it is a rather convoluted opinion. While payment systems made a lot of progress, there is still a lot of friction in the system. This is something that blockchain (especially Hive) is working on clearing up.
But the bankers have to protect their own. It appears this is going to continue until we have enough infrastructure to lap them.
