Axie Infinity Founder Says Gaming Key To Crypto Adoption
Here is another edition of our daily @leomarkettalk. We are heading towards the end of the month. We are getting close to the deadline for our contest.
It is up to us to close strong.

How different is Splinterlands from the rest of blockchain gaming? If I understand @jfang003 from a comment he made in the previous live blog, Splinterlands has more ways for people to make money. What does Splinterlands offer that other games (even Axie Infinity) don't?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Splinterlands offers many things right now to earn money: ranked battles, tournaments, rentals, daily quests, season rewards, SPS and blogging rewards. Then you can add on land and other features when they come out.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Can new things be created by players? Can you create a monster, or a summoner, or a spell, or a potion? Or are those things left to the dev team?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That is the vision for the future of the game. The ownership of land will be key in being able to create in-game assets. Although not available right now, this is what the future of the game will bring according to @aggroed and @yabapmatt in their posts and ASK ME ANYTHING (AMA) sessions.
I have followed this game since its birth as SteemMonsters and am amazed at its evolution. It has already, as Aggroed once said, minted Millionaires. It literally has!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It's left to the developers.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That would be something interesting to have! Maybe in the future we'll be able to breed our own monsters!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
As @jfang003 said, that'sleft to the dev team to do. However, it's possible that if enough players make that request to the dev team that the feature could be added. No one can say for the future, but for now it's up t the dev team.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I think it's quite possible... that kind of feature is very common to a lot of games of the same style as Splinterlands and eventually most of them end up adding exactly it or something very similar. I guess we'll see
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I don't think it will happen for some reason. I think they want scarcity for the cards.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Only time will tell. It's also possible the dev team could come up with a twist on something no one here had considered. Tag teams, battle royales, new formats-- I have no idea as I spit out these ideas.

A lot depends on the game mechanics, more open the more chances of monetization. Limited flow of gameplay the limits on what can be turned to NFT or asset to monetize.
Good points. Rising Star is the same way, now that I think about it.
If Bleach anime was ever turned into a blockchain game, players would be dead and buried before they ever finished the game. 15 seasons of content; hundreds of characters, with different versions of each character; thousands of weapons, items, accessories. Start playing today, finish playing in 2142.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It would be a nightmare to be a collector. I hope I never run into that issue
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
If that anime ever hit blockchain, I know who would get into it. Not me, not anyone else here. He was a big Bleach fan, and it's because of him I know about the anime.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Well anime is nice but I haven't watched much of it lately. My backlog just keeps getting bigger.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I used to watch anime regularly for a while, but the last time I saw any was 2014. By that time, Bleach had ended around Episode 366. It was a different time back then.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Hahaha I don't know that anime but I wouldn't oppose to a game that would be that long! I kinda like the concept, actually. Maybe one day we'll see something like that
Exode is one that might be quite complex and large so maybe it will be something like what you described (not that it would take a 100 years to get to the "end-game" but you get the point :P)

In an earlier comment in this topic I linked to the Bleach Wiki, so that's a good place to start if you want more info. It's easier to learn about Bleach than it it to learn about Splinterlands, that I can tell you-- and Bleach had a cast of hundreds.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Cool! I'll take a look
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I think the fact they keep building new layers in, all of which can enable people to have more profit.
Since I am not an expert I cant say for sure. But there are potions, DEC, and then the cards, all of which can have value. Then we also have SPT which is of benefit and now SPS.
Add all that together and there is the potential for even the novice user to make a couple grand from it over time.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That's good to know. It looks as if Splinterlands is taking gaming-- not just blockchain gaming-- to a higher level. Other games may get the buzz and attention, but without the features Splinterlands offers (and will offer) they will fall in the rankings. Eventually people will speak of Splinterlands the way they speak of {Magick: The Gathering} and {World of Warcarft}: as the undisputed leader of the genre in its format.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That would be very interesting to see!
I'm a huge Magic: The Gathering fan so I'm quite biased when I say that I have never seen a game that is as good but I hope Splinterlands get to that level one day.
I can only imagine how valuable the game will be if it ever gets to that point!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
We'll know how valuable Splinterlands can be when it gets made into a feature-length movie.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That would be nice! A feature-lenght movie streamed on a Dapp built on Hive, fully financed by the community through tokenization!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Do everything on Hive! Imagine if Hive served as an alternative to Netflix or Amazon Prime television programmimg....
Add to what you said "Now at a movie theater near you!"

I don't know much about Axie because I don't play it, but one thing I like about Splinterlands which, despite not being unique to it, it's different from most blockchain games is that there is actually a gaming aspect present.
Some other blockchain games are mostly DeFi platforms with a different UI to make it look more like a game. Splinterlands is different in the fact that it is actually a game
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Gamified DeFi isn't the same as a blockchain game. The requirements of DeFi constrain whatever gamification is placed on top of the DeFi. A blockchain game can be designed as such from scratch, and it can be as simple or as complex as needed or desired.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I agree and yet a lot of gamified DeFi platforms are market as and referred to as games. They lack actual gaming experience though...
I don't mind it as much because it still helps to spread the word around but it's very important to know and understand the difference before one decides to jump in
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I don't care if people are playing blockchain games or gamified DeFi. What matters is that people realize what they are playing so that they don't waste time with the wrong sort of game or "game."
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
This will drive forward in leaps and bounds with China's latest gaming ban. There are billions of kids seeking ways around China's ban. I think Decentralised Games will be that future.
Indeed. Gaming is big business. The Splinterland founders have tapped into that market and we all are benefitting from their long-term vision whether one plays or is invested in the game or not.
No one can argue the point that Splinterlands is currently the center gem in the HIVE Blockchain crown!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
No doubt! And hopefully the success of games such as Splinterlands, Axie and co. will be a big incentive for even more developers to start their own games. That could change the landscape completely

Psh I called it before him Called it 9 months ago ;)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Pish posh, I saw it 3 or 4 years ago! 😆
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I saw it a couple weeks ago! LOL
Better late than never I guess
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Well the guy is not wrong at all. It will attract more young people to the space and they are key to mass adoption. ✌️
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Well I definitely think gaming will be a huge key to moving people towards crypto. Especially if they earn crypto through gaming and want to use it to buy things in-game or cash out.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Many games (blockchain or not) let you make insane amounts of in-game earnings, but how many of them let you cash out to use local currency in your daily life? Not that many, but Splinterlands is one of them.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Well cashing out in local currency still isn't easy. I think its just as difficult as other crypto games right now.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
What you said. Being able to cash out in local currency isn't the same thing as getting cash out of an ATM. Not yet, anyway!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That's very true. That reminds me of the Diablo 3 fiasco
