While I would describe myself as a Alt-maxi, as much as that might be an oxymoron, I have yet to see any altcoin community that I would describe as true to the core principles of this space. Its not only about the claim, or existing on a blockchain that may be decentralized (i dont know every project in this space), but rather being able to prove that they stand for decentralization.
Sure, you see marketing pitches and freedom screaming influencers but generally, these people are nothing more than degens apeing into the next shitcoin.
As much as I've seen people come out with committed claims of supporting decentralization, be it maxis or altcoiners, as much as on its own speeches like the one from Erik Voorhees the other day can be appreciated for their eloquence or whatnot, all of that rings hollow for me.
Why?
Because none of them can actually prove they stand for those values. And so many of them have proven they do not. Many of those waiting for their day in court.
With Hive we did that. We have proven we stand for these values! For decentralization, for freedom.
How?
We put our own financial wellbeing on the line. We risked everything. We chose freedom over the safety of being under control of a billionaire investor.
Oh but he promised not to abuse his power
And that safety is something that so many invite. Remember Solana and how they salivated over the prospect of Justin Sun saving FTX and Solana?
We left Steem and Justin behind. We started Hive. We had no listings, we had no brand, no recognition, the token had 0 value.
This community chose to start from scratch just to be free even if it meant risking losing all our money. Even when Justin stole millions directly from our wallets we didn't falter.
And that is the only kind of proof I will ever accept.
The Bitcoin community cant claim what we can, the Ethereum community, Solana, Avax, whoever.
Only Hive can. Only we can.
And that is why those claims by others in this space will always ring hollow for me.
They might believe those words but until they are faced with what we have been faced, when they need to make a choice, until they can prove they stand for these values, I will not believe them.
Neither should you.

I started a Politics related community and have been slowly creating content for it.
My mode here on #Hive though is persuasion, as opposed to being deliberately confontational.
Hive posts are community moderated. The community are people.
If you attack people, they retaliate because theyre people. Some hit you with downvotes, some respond with words.
It still their choice, but the system to incentivize is there.
The freedom to be an asshole is a freedom just as anything else.

As long as we embrace HIVE and the idea behind it, decentralized social media, HIVE will survive and I think we are just in the babyhood of HIVE.

Really felt this, @lordbutterfly. The way Hive stuck to its guns and chose freedom over a quick buck is something special. It's one thing to talk big about decentralization, but OG HIVERS walked the walk even when it cost you all. Makes you wonder how many others would do the same when push comes to shove. - just a regular HIVER 🤘🏽

One thing that makes Hive really strong is its decentralized form. The decision is in the community, and that's what sets it apart. Undoubtedly the future is this, this now.
Hive has gone a long way. And still has a long way to go. As long as I’m around. hive will be my web3 of choice. Big or small we all have to do our parts.

It is kind of crazy when you think about it. I sold all of my Steem immediately and bought more Hive. We had no idea if this thing would take off. How often does the fork overtake the original chain? So amazing.

It is a crazy story without a doubt.
I have spoken to many Hivers face to face and they all seem genuine. It's interesting that they rarely want to discuss the price or boast about how much they hold. It's more about what we can do to make Hive better for the majority.
